    Review of Hotel:

Service - exceptional on the Gold Floor. Very accommodating of our daughters food allergy.

Food - Gold floor food - less selection then Hotel Vancouver, Whistler Fairmont, or Waterfront Fairmont but still very tasty.

Spa - Surprisingly exceeded my expectation. Nice decor. Men's room had everything for grooming.

Decor - glad they kept the South side of the building "old", kept old armours from the rooms in the hallways as a touch, love the old historical menus on walls. 60 million dollar renovation has mad the rooms up to date.

Features - one of the better pools in a hotel, gym is small but has what you need for a hotel gym

Whoever came up with this decor mix of new and old is a genius!

Easily one of my top five hotels I've ever stayed at! The staff is very friendly and the rooms are very well kept. There is also a lot of history associated with this hotel, which makes for an even cooler experience. If you want to go the extra mile, go for high tea! It will not disappoint! Best tea time I've ever experienced! Love this hotel and everything about it! I will definitely be going back!

Always a pleasant stay. Comfy beds, clean rooms. Provided amendments are a plus. Friendly staff that can cater to your needs and last minute booking changes. The location is very convenient.

Travelled with my team, all colleagues got upgraded, none of them were premier or platinum members but I was and the lobby attendant offered me to upgrade with a fee. I have a premiere membership with a complimentary upgrade and I was not offered that. It made me feel not special at all.
Management turned things around and my stay was fantastic. Great room great service.

Gorgeous historic hotel that offers a poor first impression in the lobby. We weren't acknowledged as we stood expectantly with our luggage, meanwhile one desk clerk was on the phone and the other casually chatted at length with someone who may or may not have been a guest who seemed just be waiting there. It felt unwelcoming. After a while, it made us wonder whether we were in the wrong place. Once the first clerk got off the phone, she was friendly and helped us.

Over the following days, the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful. Our suite was splendid, well-appointed, and clean. The hotel interiors and exterior are perfectly romantic, ornate, and full of history. Parking in the garage was conveniently accessible by elevator and out of the rain. Museums were easy walking distance. At times there's a vibe among the staff and other guests that we might not be fancy enough to stay there.

Been here multiple times, doesn't fail to impress. As of April 2017, they're renovating the north side, with the south side newly renovated. The rooms are clean and modern, a contrast to the old history of the hotel. A short walk to the water, museums, and shopping.

Lovely stay!! Will return such a pretty historical building. The gardens stunning!! Stay on the gold floor well worth it for all the value an breakfast on the terrace overlooking the harbour! Nice touch!!
Do not do High Tea at the Empress! Poor poor value for what you get an even the service for 75.00 each it's poor! Go for High Tea at the Venus Sofia they know fine food, sweets, tea, service and the value it's all excellent!! Five stars!!

We stayed in a renovated suite and it was done very nicely. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room. Doors to bathroom were really short and didn't open fully but still really lovely and full of charm and character.

The location was conveniently located which was great. The service was excellent. Checking in was a breeze and everyone was very pleasant. Breakfast service was also very polite. The food was great. The room itself was great. Very spacious, with the historic charm and modern amenities. I even had a seagull come stop at my window to come say hi. Overall I feel very fortunate I was able to stay at the Empress and I will be returning if I'm back in Victoria.

Stayed at hotel for a conference. It's still under renovation but the new parts were great. Also - they are trialing a new text message service where you can text the hotel and they will help you. I used it for room cleaning, reservations, and the car service. The response time and exceptional service delivered after each text I sent was best in class. I highly recommend using this new feature.
