The room was not cleaned, mice in the kitchen, disgusting smell, bedbugs in the room, druggies everywhere and bad service from the staff working evenings.
Checked out one night earlier than we were supposed to do, couldnt be there for another second.

within the first 12 minutes of being there, a roach crawled out of the sink. my brother unknowingly crushed another bug everyone was super nice, but we left within the hour.
Worst place I've ever been and overpriced for the piss/old Chinese food smell, stained sheets, bedbugs, no AC/ fans, crumbling facilities and incredibly rude staff. Ive stayed in hostels around the world and this place should be condemned. Really bad part of town as well with hookers and druggies everywhere hassling you for cash. Would not recommend to my worst enemy, save your money and your sanity and do not stay here! 0/5 👎
Would go again for the price and location to downtown core. Fairly clean, safe, sanitary and friendly front desk service. Only went for a night so did not use the kitchen or common area but it suited our needs very well.
The most important feature in a hotel room for me is the bed. And I wish the bed & linens were as high quality as the rest of the hotel.
Both nights I stayed I ended up sleeping on the floor. The bed is squishy with no support and the pillows are little more then disguised tissue paper.
I'm spectacularly low maintenance and this was still a pretty rough place.
It was all that was available on a busy Friday night in Vancouver, and I was lucky to have only had to drop my things off and go out, return and sleep, and then wake-up and leave this place. Showering was a challenge as the shower-to-guest ratio is unfortunate, even for a hostel. The floor in my room was slanted, and worst of all, the staff can be downright rude. How could one possibly be a jerk to a guest during check-in? And it gets so hot in the room!! I had a room to myself and couldn't have imagined sharing one with other humans considering the heat. On the positive side, it is walking distance to the long-distance bus/train station, the Skytrain, and a few decent restaurants.
They packed 4 dudes in one room. The window barely could open. We all died of heat. It was so bad i felt short of breath and went outside at 3 a.m. The only reason i stayed here is because it was $30. They had empty rooms they could of spread us out more on the hottest smokiest day of the year
Room was clean and ready to go, staff was nice. Just need a bed for the night and that's what I got
my experience at this hostel people Do not like talking and i am told i am trouble when drug dealers and its idiots are in the hostel. ivan hoe has drug addicts running the place.
Loved my stay there! Met some great people:) locations was good, make sure to flush the toilet.
Good room for the price. Just know this is not a great part of town and I would strongly suggest you stay away from the Ivanhoe Hotel!
The location of the hostel is very good to take the bus and visit tourist places. But to go out at night has better ones closer to Granville. Also, the smell is bad here, piled up garbage in the corners, very small rooms, bad wifi, service is weak and even had a surprise of almost 30% rates. By the end, we come to two mouses in the kitchen, but according to the owners, no problem. Some positive feedback: shower is good, bed is good, location, there are reliable employee.
