For my first time renting a car through rent a bomb other then price which is great. I was quite upset what I found and experienced. Just as well I done a fluid check. Motor was dry of oil looks like it's been like that for a while due to how black the oil is and how strong the burning smell is. It skips and misfires when your driving. It has no pick up like it's meant to. This car is well overdue for a service or there is something wrong with it. Worst experience driving a poorly running car in the last year of renting cars. Specially when I had to purchase oil for it. Hope you can fix this problem cause that's a breach of contract.

I had booked a car in advance online, then was called & advised that this car was not available only a more expensive one - I agreed. I arrived in Cairns for a long weekend & went to the store to collect the car. I was asking about the bond & when this would be returned when the man behind the desk became hostile & aggressive towards me & told me to go else where. I was very confused & started crying, trying to understand what happened. I was left stranded with out transport with a baby & luggage on our own. This was a horrendous experience & if I could give zero stars I would. I’m a professional woman, hold a licence for 20 years & there was no reason for me to be refused a car. Please be very careful if considering renting a car here. I would not recommend this company.

It is way cheaper than the airport rentals by far. Got a newer type model and never had any dramas with it. But there are definitely no frills attached. The car had wet car mats in it so we had to dry them out and they smelt a bit. And there is no cleaning on the car so we did need to vacuum it too. Having said that I would use them again. Maybe not if I had the kids with us but for 2 of us just wanting transport to explore the region is was fine. Saved alot of dollars for the week. Not as bad as the name sounds.

Just wanted to leave a positive review after reading some of the negative ones left on Google. Service was quick, polite and friendly. 10 minutes from arrival to drive away. No endless checks of the rental vehicle or wading through mountains of paperwork. As the name suggests my rental car was not a newer model and wasn't particularly clean. But you know what ? The car got me around from A to B. It was registered. It was roadworthy. And it was CHEAP. The clue is in the business name ! If you want a more luxurious or modern car rental whilst in Cairns there's plenty of other hire companies to choose from. For the savvy and cost conscious amongst us, use Rent-a-Bomb and spend your days driving around laughing at others in their over priced turbo charged Suzuki Swift's 👍

ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS - Michael is a flog and he gave us a car that wasnt even clean, people got out and then we got in. It smelt so bad and the front tyre was balding and the headlights were so dim that I could have luminated the road with my phone!!!
when we went to return because we felt unsafe, he was rude and treated us ignorantly, pretty much said that our need to travel safely was of no concern to them.response / report this review -

Rent-A-Bomb is a great affordable car rental service, and the customer service is excellent! Michael was a great help to me. I extended my rental twice, and was treated well each time, with no hiccups. The cars are not fancy, but they run and they're CHEAP. For 11 days with Rent-A-Bomb, I paid half of what I paid for a week with Europcar. Thank you, Rent-A-Bomb!

I rented a car for over 10 days recently and it was not a 'bomb' at all, I was very happy with the whole experience. The staff were helpful, the price was the lowest I could find in Cairns & the barina ran very well. I would definitely recommend them and be using them again in the future when I head to Cairns!

So disappointed with the way we were treated by this company.
I had booked a car in advance and landed into cairns over the Christmas period to be given a car with no working air con and was filthy on the inside, the seats were covered in salt sweat marks. We would get over sweaty seats but when we drove the car around for a bit to see if the aircon would get better as we thought maybe it have been parked up for a while, but it was just blowing out air. My partner went into the shop at one stage and the car was left running and I was sweating in the front seat. So we decided to bing it back as we have paid for a fully functioning car.
When we brought the car back to ask if we could get one with working aircon or if something could be done, the guy sat in the drivers seat with his foot on the accelerator telling us that the aircon in all the cars had been done recently which was absolute lies. He kept persisting that the aircon was working.
We both live in Perth and are well used to hot weather and defiantly know the difference between air and aircon. He told us no car has cold air when it's ticking over. He was extremely rude and arrogant and wasn't not listening at all. My partner explained that it wasn't working and the guy just lost it and kicked us out, took the keys and refunded the money and was and was not listening at all. He seemed to get very offend when we told him we know what we are talking about.
I never bother leaving bad reviews but I really am so annoyed by they way we were treated. I understand not all Rent a Bomb companies are bad as I was actually speaking to a lovely guys from the gold cost rent a bomb and he was a pleasure to deal with.
But I will never recommend Cairns Rent a bomb to anyone and would advise you to think before go here.response / report this review -

Will never rent a car through you ever again I booked a car back in October to pic up on the 27th December and I got there to find out there was no car for me the staff was rude and they couldn't give a dam I will never recommend them to anyone plus they couldn't even jump start a car they had there while we was waiting for a taxi to go get a car from another rental company

i booked a new car f rom rent a bomb in cairns on 28th 29th sept 2016 [end of school holidays ] from the city office ,frantic as it was I was delighted with the service we received from the manager she was helpfu l in all areas and professional dealing with so many customers same time and the return of bond was prompt we have no hesitation rebooking with rent a bomb in cairns again in near future ,,thankyou rentabomb f or getting us out of a tight spot,,,and so affordable and flexible
