We have an AvisPreferred card. Great staff at the airport service desk; lots of smiles; very attentive; no problem at all. BUT. We have used Avis before and sometimes found the vehicles not to have full fuel tanks - which we did not check at the time. This time, however, we mentioned this to the staff and the female attendant assured us the tank would be full. We went outside to the car parking area a short distance away and checked the car for damage (none) then checked the fuel gauge, to find it only 3/4 full. When we went back and told them this, they credited us $20. Okay, that is excellent, but we were already thoroughly peeved off with yet another non-full tank. All rental companies charge extra if you do not return the car with a full tank. It makes me think Avis do not check it, or charge the previous customer but then don't fill the car. An initial great service spoilt by an ongoing problem, for us at least.

Great car. Best deals in town. Don't randomly ask for a second driver fee. That's a plus point for sure. Amazing experience. Going to get another car in Melbourne next week from them as well.

We had booked with another car rental company prior to leaving New Zealand. They let us down and Avis rescued us. Shay was fantastic to deal with and the car we were given was almost new. Can't really add a lot except that we won't be dealing with anybody but Avis again.

The quoted price was the price charged, no hidden fees, no issues, fast and friendly service. Rented a small SUV that was nearly new - very satisfied. Received quick return service too. Would def rent from Avis again.

No fuss. Guy with a hand held terminal came up to us as soon as we drove in. Car barcode was scanned, cursory check of bodywork and fuel and we were free to go. Really easy to get to and once you've dropped the car off you just cross the road and you're in the terminal. There's a Shell garage about 1km after the terminal (approaching from Port Douglas) which seemed closest to fill up the tank.
