A small market, but a foodie haven! Definitely the best market in Melbourne for groceries. The produce is unreal - the meat and fish I’ve had from here has been fantastic.
Also, it's the OG destination for Market Lane Coffee, so make sure you don't walk past it without grabbing something!
Always something good to find at the Prahran market. Good to go any time of the year. Great variety and selection!
Always have a pleasant experience at the Prahran Market. Fresh products, food supply a good amount of the time, and the staff are amazing! The meat especially is always very fresh and I think it might be better than Costco. Am definitely satisfied with the service and quality so I am rating it high
I went there on Thursday. It is a pretty decent market with a great selection. I gotta say though, my experience was rather bad overall.
As I passed through the butcher area I noticed some divine Wagyu beef steaks just twinkling through the glass, my eyes started watering, I broke my gaze and continued walking, knowing that I shouldn't be spending all my budget on one item. I rush to the vegie grocers and start fondling the melons to distract myself. The pull from the Wagyu is too strong! I am dragged back there by an uncontrollable force. A staff member turns and looks at me, telepathically knows what I desire and throws me a 300gram slice of 60 day aged heaven. I catch it and fall to my knees, I start weeping with happiness. I am hard and embarrassed. I gather myself and make for the exit.
I couldn't afford to eat for the rest of the week and I made a fool of myself but it was all worth it. I'll be back for sure!
Love the variety of fresh produce found at this Market. Great place for coffee too. Pino for fresh fruit and vegetables. Organic opposite. Organic butcher, great fresh seafood, wide selection of cheese and lovely blooms.
A bit pricey but a nice spot to have lunch and take home some treats. The live band on Saturdays makes the atmosphere really enjoyable. Would recommend a visit on the weekend if you're visiting the area.
Lovely Market Very Clean ..fruit and veg not too expensive,, meat and seafood are Expensive 😊😁 quite trendy though 😆
Great produce and also good place for lunch. The market has a range of fresh food but it can be pricey. They also have a great organic store which we often visit.
Quality meat and fresh vegetables. The food is nice in the inside stores.
The products are little over priced if compare to other markets.
Love this place, yes some things are pricier but the quality is great. Meat and Seafood selections are very good. If looking for cheap veggies Sundays $10 box in the back corner of fresh produce is good. Oh and try the mussel pot for lunch if you like seafood, Yum. If not there are plenty other great bites to be had, enjoy.
Some lovely, fresh ingredients to be had. They, and you, pay a little for the real estate, but it's nice that a lot of premium and unusual stuff is in one place. Got myself some fancy mushrooms and wagyu for dinner tonight
This place was 'good' the layout and stalls don't cope with crowds very well so if you do decide to come along either get here early or expect long queues. Bring cash also as only a few of the places take card. There is a Bendigo bank ATM here so that is handy but if you need a different bank then get cash on the way as it is a long walk to any of the major banks.
Always an enjoyable experience. Produce is fresh, abundant and varied. A great place to find that something different.
A little expensive, but I love the fresh pasta shop, Turkish delight shop and the Turkish place next to the pasta shop for burek. I do my weekly grocery shop here and find the fruit and veg food quality great, however compared to other big markets it's a little more expensive.
My local market. I shop for all my fruit and veg here. If I'm lucky I can get a large box of veg that lasts me a week for $10 !
The place is also great for those with a sweet tooth: ice cream shop, chocolate specialist shop and a specialist Turkish Delight store.
My only complaint is the lack of bicycle parking and the pavement can be dangerous for cyclists too.
Beautiful selection of the most fresh seafood, vegetables, flowers, fruits and of course meats, cheeses and breads.
Cleaner and less crowded than Victoria market. The meat and fish areas don't spell and everything is kept neatly. They have an organic grocer , ripe, which has a good selection of organic produce and health foods including kombucha which I was delighted to see.
On the downside there are too many places to eat in the actual market besides quick grab and go fast food, but there's many places to have a sit down meal outside of the market.
Note- they are closed on Monday and Wednesday, so I'll save you the trip
Probably the best place to do your grocery shopping in Melbourne. Price and quality!
Been coing here for 35 years. Great place with good variety. I miss the doughnut truck that used to be there in the 1980's. :-)
Quality market with great things to talk about.. Starting from the parking not bad for 2 Hours (only 2.5 dollars). Tuesday is a great day to visit with live music, some activities, more stalls, nice cafes to sit and have fun. I like the fact that this is a relaxed market. Love the Hungarian section too.. I recommend this market personally.. good one!
