Waited over 1hour for food. Amounts small but tasty. Kept awake at 4am from building site next door. Pouring concrete. So noisy. Nothing in bar fridge. Water/ cold drinks. No.
Nice clean room. Good breakfast facilities. Awesome pool with a swim up pool bar and a great atmosphere. Overall really good value for money. Would definitely stay here again.
On arrival to our room, the team had a "welcome back" card on the table, also a bottle of beer and a small pack of peanuts for both of us to enjoy.
Our last visit was for my wife's birthday, the team took the trouble to drop in a bottle of wine for us also to enjoy.
Having my own business I find this refreshing to find a big company taking the time and effort and detail for your guest.
Well done.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed.
Options of dining, by the pool or in the dining room suited us and we enjoyed both.
Staff organized a trip for us at short notice and all our needs were addressed. We were impressed.
Good location..
Not a 4 star hotel..
King room consisted of 2 x king single pushed together & not even with a fitted bottom sheet that covered the foot end of bed!!
Only once we're we acknowledged by a staff member & that was the housekeeper. Even upon checkout we were not asked about our stay.
Booked a garden view room & our view was a side fence!!
No incentive to stay at this resort again.
We chose Novotel for its good central position and as a place from which to commence our daily excursions to various places of interest such as the many unique forests and coral reefs and the city of Cairns itself especially during the evening. Thus the hotel was a perfect place to stay. We found the room satisfactory in all respects although at one point we had a malfunction in the toilet flushing which was promptly taken care of. Breakfast was filling although it lacked somewhat on choice.
All in all, I would recommend Novotel as a tourist hotel.
Cool, clean room, delightful breakfast overlooking the pool, an underground car park, plus helpful people on the desk. What more could a traveller wish for? I must comment on one staff in particular Claudia, who was always working extremely hard but was also willing to assist us with directions. She should be praised for her way above average work ethic.
Only one small area of concern was the plates, cups etc left piled up all over the place after breakfast. Why not put a tresses out and then dishes could be neatly stacked until a staff memeber is free.
Thought we booked into a 4 star hotel, but was mistaken. Room furniture was totally well below standard (a Cane seat without any cushions, a hard wooden desk chair & a cane side table thingy). Booking was for a double bed superior room. Which being a double you would expect to be able to seat 2 people on comfortable modern furniture, But we had to sit on the beds to watch TV or have a drink & talk to each other. Lucky to be a 2-3 star motel. Car parking was also an issue in having to pay $9 per day. One would think in a hotel so large that a car park would be included in the room rate.
Only positive was the room was clean & room service was good.
Not impressed & wouldn't recommend nor go there again.
We stayed during the school holidays so quite noisy hence was put off using the beautiful pool or the restaurant at dinner. We like to eat early but too many children and we do understand being school holidays. However, I must say seemed a wonderful hotel for families and certainly catered for children with the pretty child friendly pool and wonderful free daily activities for children.
The lady I spoke with to book our stay was delightful and very helpful. Unfortunately I cannot remember her name to say thank you.
The Reception staff were lovely to deal with.
Not so the ladies at the Tour Desk. They could do with a smile and explain better the questions directed about shopping in the city of Cairns and not once took the time to show me on a map where to go. At the times I spoke with them they were not busy. May I also add not a good look for a staff member picking her teeth with a toothpick while behind the tour desk.
Most staff in the dinning room at breakfast were helpful considering they were very busy.
The housekeeping staff were always polite, delightful and helpful. A joy to deal with.
We would certainly stay again except in school holidays unless we had our grandchildren with us.
The service was great. The rooms were very clean and tidy. It was a step above the rest. Recommend.
Great resort located just a short stroll from the esplanade. Loved the pool and swim up bar. Room was spacious and bed comfy. Only problem with the room was the very poor quality TV (visual and audio). Would still return.
Good resort with spacious comfortable rooms - wide and good breakfast spread. Convenient location - 5 minutes walk from the Esplanade. However, service at breakfast left much to be desired. Your customised request may not come at all, unless you follow up, and that too may not be what you ordered. If you are unfortunate to be seated outside, you may find yourself sharing your breakfast with birds and flies.
Beautifully presented hotel very close to the heart of Cairns. The swimming pool is amazing and is perfect for small kids who love to swim. Reception staff were professional and made check in a breeze. They also extended my stay without any effort even though the place was obviously busy.
99% of the staff was friendly, but it only takes one bad experience to make that unmemorable. We politely went to the morning manager with an issue and were treated rudely. A wee bit more people-handing training is in order for this one. I'd give it more stars but the restroom stunk to high heaven of sewage, and the breakfast buffet was over-priced and low-quality. Otherwise, the common areas are clean and updated, and the pool is relaxing and well maintained. If you're looking for a word class gym, don't rely on theirs. It's rusty and some of the equipment does not work well. There are heaps of beachside workout areas you can enjoy instead.
