Whilst the hotel itself was adequate, I was incredibly disappointed by the aggressive nature of the staff. My partner checked in before me and advised the front desk staff that I would be arriving later.
Upon arriving, I informed the front desk that my room had already been checked into and that my partner had called before. My name was even on the booking.
Surprisingly, the man wearing a blue shirt (front desk manager) started aggressively shouting at me and accused me of trying to break into the hotel room. I was shocked at the immediate escalation. He was pointing at me aggressively and said “there is no way you’re getting up that elevator”.
Another staff member came out from the office and casually mentioned that my partner had called down. The man then blamed a “communication issue” and did not offer an apology.
This review comes at the expense of one man, the front desk manager, from an otherwise adequate hotel experience. I am disappointed to be on the receiving end of such aggressive behaviour from an Accor hotel employee.
My partner and I travel frequently to FNQ for work and will be staying at the Hilton from now on.
I do not recommend that anyone stay here due to the front desk manager.response / report this review -

Nothing too much trouble, amazing front counter service. Garbriella from Apartment Beautify Services are top notch, great access to marina and shopping and best restaurants. Thinking I'll bring my husband next time. Thanks

Good location near beach. Free WiFi. Front desk staff was rude at times but the rooms were nice. There were ants in our rooms but this seems to be common in the city.

Lovely place, room was lovely only stayed the one night. But will definitely be back. We had a great time. And lovely service the staff where very welcoming.

Fantastic location, happy and helpful staff. Good options for food around the corner and the esplanade is a minute long walk away.

Nice rooms, friendly staff. They let us leave our luggage with them while we went out on an overnight reef trip no questions asked. Having laundry in our room was a great feature too.

While there seem to be a number of negative reviews about this hotel, I've enjoyed my stay in the Cairns Harbour Lights. The apartment was very clean and well-maintained. The location of the hotel was superb and served my needs adequately. There are a number of cafes, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. Most importantly, I love the view of the harbour from the comfort of my balcony.
