It's a typical backpacker hostel. The Location was good for me cause is close to the southern cross station. It is not 2 stars cause there are no crazy parties there and is not 4 stars cause my food has been stolen regularly, the reception don't care much about it and they don't let you keep the food the room either, that's comprehensible. No problem for my personal stuff in the room thou. The price is high and it changes daily. It's not dirty, except the dusts field under the bed. There are better hostels for the same price not so far. Cheers

It's cheap,ok, but it's full of mice (they are everywhere, in each rooms, kitchen, common roomI found 2 mice inside my meal bag as well). Some of the staff are rude (especially the young blonde guy) and if you want to stay there for long time you have to change rooms often for no reason. In some rooms there are bed bugs, I had to wash my stuff accurately when I left that place. People from outside can enter inside and have been stolen some money and camera.

The hostel is nice enough. It's exactly what you can expect for the price you're paying.
Staff is friendly and helpful and the facilities are as clean as possible with so many people using them.
There are free pancakes every morning, which I personally can do without. I'd rather have actual free and well-functioning Wi-Fi in every room and not just in the main room from 7am to 7pm. Of course, there's the option that you can pay for more internet access… But if you advertise free wi-fi on your homepage, you might actually offer exactly that.response / report this review -

Don't try and get employment through this place, the staff are very rude to potential employers, they hang up on you when you try and post work with them and are totally disinterested in what they do. Zero stars..
Further to your response "owner", i gave you another try to post a job today, they told me to contact Base Backpackers in St Kilda as that was owned by you also & there was a dedicated job's person there, so i did and then hung up trying to put me through again!!!! No i wasn't cut off as you tried to claim.. So I rang back and told an Irish guy that he'd just hung up on me, he told me that he didn't but he couldn't help me anyway and then hung up again!! Your full of BS buddy and don't really give a damn about anyone. if I was a backpacker expecting to get a few jobs from your company to substitute my travel $$'s i'd be pretty pissed off at the managements attitude in there. I spend time in that hostel 3 times now. It's close to the Southern Cross Station where you can find Coles, Pharmacy, There's a 7/11 just next door and several places to get food are around. UBAR is just downstairs with a different program every day (Trivia, Karaoke, ) and Drink specials.
The hostel is in an old building but all the rooms get renovated one after another at the moment. There's a big eating area where you can sit and work, eat, The rooms I was in were clean and I always had enough space for my things, but some lockers would be great! I appreciated free WiFi from 7 to 7, free pancakes in the morning, free pasta, rice, sugar, coffee and tea, as I was at the end of my travels and didn't have much money left.
The staff was always friendly and could help with every question I had. I'd definitely book another bed in this hostel, whenever I'll come back. Live-in positions are available, to make some money.response / report this review -

It's a really cheap alternative to hotels (you can get as low as $159/week inc. unlimited internet), but you do have to sacrifice some things such as privacy (share rooms with up to 11 other people) and general quality.
A few positives, other than low cost, is they also help you get a job and offer travel discounts.
If you aren't very fussy and would rather spend your money on going out rather than high quality accommodation, then this place makes a really good temporary home.response / report this review -

For start it was good for a budget hostel, we got our room left our stuff and went outside. But when we came back to sleep someone else was sleeping in the bed which was supposed to be mine. I went to inform staffs they try to fix me new room . It was 1 am and was very sleepy. Staff changed my room but was forced to sleep in dirty bed wid smelly blanket. Just want to suggest that when u assigned the room, better assign bed as well .

There's two reasons to love drinking at Nomads. The drinks are cheap enough, and the backpackers and internationals are always interesting to chat with over those cheap drinks! It is undeniable a grungy hostel bar though

Had to install an app to check in. Given a complimentary drink in the bar downstairs, tasted off. 2 mice in our room. Shower pressure was decent

Was great until the final day. I bought a football and had to leave my luggage in the storage room. Only to come back that my football was stolen. Reported it to reception and they said they would call me. I got a call saying they couldnt find anyone steal it and wouldnt take blame for it. Not happy at all

Best place for meeting new and really nice people. Staff is friendly and working for accommodation is very good and easy. Kitchen and sitting area is big.. Facilities are clean. UBar downstairs is awesome haharesponse / report this review -

Free pancakes for breakfast. Bathroom and shower were reasonably clean. Nice television room. Dining area and kitchen were not as clean as I liked and one of the fridges was leaking. Location is good but next to a railway. Earplugs are recommended.
