We hired a car from the A’Beckett Street office and it was a very easy process. We took out the No Excess insurance and it removed so much stress of driving a rental. We ended up with a fairly new MG SUV which, seeing as I was in the passenger seat, very easy do drive. Pick up and return was very easy with the guys clearing the car straight away. We found the service to be professional and affordable. Would definitely use them again.
I rented a car for 6 days from East Coast to drive from Melbourne to Adelaide. The car was new and spotless clean. They offered the best rates amongst all car hires. The staff was also friendly too and the pick-up and drop off experience was very smooth.
Reasonable price rate. East coast will often allow you to extend your rental as I have tried this a few times. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Very warm and professional welcome upon pick up. Prior to that communication was very clear and friendly. Great all round service.
Good communication upon collection of car. No fuss. Car was Renault Captur with less than 10000km in excellent condition. Key card for car kept saying it was low on battery despite being on the charger and made us a bit nervous when leaving the car. Car was very clean and comfortable. Lovely shuttle service with friendly employees. Good checkout procedure with no fuss once again. Would use again for sure.
I just want to strightening up my story.
On 10th November 2017, me and my friends were doing a trip on Melbourne from Sydney.
So, we decided to rent a car to travel nice spots in Victoria.
We chose East Coast Car Rentals as our option.
A male staff who sat on the corner of the receptionist desk served us and unfortunately we forget his name.
We’ve paid the rent by cash in amount of $180 on the spot
The contract was made and we were happy at the moment.
The guy told us to bring the car back on 4.30 PM in 11th November 2017 and refill the fuel fully.
One day passed and we fulfilled all the requests as he told.
But at the day we brought the car to the Secure Parking - The Mint Car Park, La Trobe Street, Melbourne VIC (the place that he brought us to take the car), an old lady named Vicki served us.
She said, the car was rented from another company called Cheapa Car Rental (I can see you the proof we’ve captured by the copy receipt).
She also said she was not responsible of the key car and this is so contradicting about the guy who told us to drop the key on East Coast Car Rentals on La Trobe Street.
She took our time about half an hour.
I was so tired at the moment and we need to rest and catch our flight in the next morning.
And the lady told us to give the key and the copy receipt to the Cheaper Car Rental on 110 A'Beckett St, Melbourne VIC 3000 inside their mailbox.
So we just did it and there is NO mailbox.
We tried to give the key to the lady back and the place was closed.
I feel like this business is very confusing and complicated.
That’s all.
Extremely poor customer service with hidden costs.
Booked a car online and was told at the pick-up counter at La Trobe that a security deposit of a 1000 dollars would need be paid, or an alternative of paying an additional amount per day to avoid paying the deposit. This is not mentioned anywhere in the terms and conditions.
To me this seems like a scam, most car rentals clearly mentions the security deposit money $200, $500 etc, but asking for $1000 deposit on the spot without prior information and stating it as “our company policy” is more or less a scam. If it is east coast rentals needs to put that amount on the terms of conditions.
To top it up I also received poor customer service, never again.
I cant believe how poor service they provide! We ordered automatic car for 10 am today. Thay provided manual! We needed to wait over 3 hours. No discount, no sorry!, nothing.. They were rudecan't believe it !!
Very satisfied with the act and the service. They provided a quick rental process.
1. Pretty old car. Booked a Toyota Corolla but we ended up with a three year old Nissan Pulsa (2014).
2. Dirty. The skirt of the car body is full of dirt when I got the car.
3. Paint chips all over the car
4. Bad fuel. I drove 365 km and the car already used 3/4 of the tank. After i have put in some unlead 91 at BP, the fuel gauge needle barely moved even I have driven around 150 km.
So think twice before hire a car from east coast.
Good quality cars. Good service, and great price. They even have a loyalty program
Not told about $1000 hold or compulsory insurance. Even though i have automatic cover with my credit card. Not told about aditional fee of 11.2 for extra driver. Fuel not full. 3 phone calls to get right person to discuss. Told to allow 1 hour to get from depot to airport on return. Who has that much time to spare.
Very efficient, quick pick up from airport to rental location. All staff very polite and friendly. Vehicle very clean and no problems experienced. Considering the price, a very good deal. Dropped off to airport immediately upon return of vehicle. From our experience, would recommend highly versus some other major hire car companies.
Our initial booking was bungled, even after we phoned to confirm that a 12-seater would be available for city pick-up (forcing us to hire 2 vehicles instead). Then after waiting for at least 20 mins in their office we were told that our vehicle was not available and would be at least another 40 mins away. It was already past 10 am at this point (we had a NINE am booking) so that made it too late for our planned day trip.
So after appalling treatment by their staff, their refusal to allow some flexibility in drop off as compensation and our strong suspicion that they would not have a car available again should we re-book for another day, we decided to go elsewhere for our car rental (where we found a better deal anyway!)
Dealing with this company has been nothing but hassle, stress and inconvenience. If you are considering renting here, I strongly recommend you don't. They are the most shonky car rental agency I have ever come across. Walk away.
The staff is really rude. Quality of cars is extremely bad. It's better to pay a little more and get a safe car. The car I received was not only dirty, it was unsafe too. They said my excess was $3000. I suspect that the car's worth was not $3000.
Worked without any problems! We had a really good Toyota Camry. Only a sign of the company at the lane of the parking would be nice.
A claim that was supposed to be a year ago ended up no result. Without customers hassle or push, the pull strategy is already loose! Worse among all, the claim manager is no longer working while the newbie is utterly hopeless! I am used to be a regular customers and now i decided to boycott! If you ever think of setting up a corporate company like this; you better think of hiring people that are dedicated and responsible while respecting the working environment! Disgrace to the industry and Australian consumer affairs too!
We used them and had no problems. the garage is a little walk along twisting alleys from the office, so you have to have your wits about you. But the location is perfect for entering and leaving the CBD. Recommended!
