Stopped there for lunch. The food was amazing. We had the pulled pork slider and the brisket natchos. Will definitely stop there again. The service was excellent and personal. Amazing vibe. Don't just drive past again. 😁

I cannot explain how great this experience was . I went expecting to eat some good food and walked out after hearing and experiencing a journey in culinary delight and a drinks experience u like any other .

The pitmaster talked to us about so many topics and we were engrossed to find out as much as possible about our food and drinks

They've added a big kids and grass area if you feel like being outdoors.

Starting from the warm welcome we received from what initial looked like a bikers only joint to a well rounded family gathering. We got a private tour of the smoke house, tasted the absolutely smooth local brewed Tequila and beer. To finish it all the food was so so so goodjaw dropping, meat falling of the bone, full of flavour food. A must for Meat Eaters and good food lovers. Thank you

I told all my friends the moment I left, great hospitality. Great vibes all the way, our waiter Eugene was great too.

Those portions put me in a happy place, great value for money. Take your family and friends, what a gem.

Plan to go there 4 times a year, can taste my meal just talking about it. Home made sauces are the bomb.

Definitely on my favourite places to go, such an epic experience. Will be going back with more people as soon as possible.

As far as menu goes you expect it to be limited for vegetarian options as it is a smokehouse. They have a good variety of options for the non-meat eaters.
Beverage wise it is also an unforgettable experience.

Superb, smokey ribs in a relaxed and rustic environment. Brisket is also a winner, and the sweet potato fries are delicious. Good beer and great service.

Best Pork Belly ribs I have ever had. What great food. Service was good. Kids had fun and the Craft Beer was great. Will definitely be back.

The hickory shack is a true gem, a must visit for anyone who loves good southern cooking and atmosphere.. The menus is small but has a lot to offer in forms of taste and portion sizes.
Great friendly staff are always able to assist.
The beer selection in tap is of a reasonable size, with six varieties when I was there.
This place is child friendly and has a jungle gym for kiddies, a separate menus for children to have a small Bute.
Thanks for a great visit, we will be back again..

Well worth the trip out to Hickory Shack; nice spacious venue for the family and/or friends. Outdoor area for kids, craft beer and cider for the hipsters and awesome food. Truly a great smokehouse

The beef brisket was delicious. The ribs were rather dry and tough. Frustrating that you have to order everything on the side, but the side order of coleslaw was delicious as were the chips. The menu was rather limited. No offer of a wine list but pommegranite cider on tap was lovely and refreshing. The waiter was well informed and attentive. This restaurant has plenty of potential but was a little disappointing.

It's a great place, I just expected more all of this is just my impression, yours may be different (looking at the other reviews, that's highly possible)

    Pros:
    -Lovely setting
    -Great Beer
    -Chilled atmosphere
    -Good service
    -Menu variety
    -Salads were refreshing
-I no longer have any urge to fly to the USA for some smokehouse food. A USA citizen reviewed this and said they were reminded of home. If that's true, then I'm OK staying right here.

    Cons:
-Woman only nappy changing area it's 2017 people, men actually help with kids these days
-Kiddies hotdog is a letdown considering this is a Smoke house, especially at the price point. Maybe consider doing it with proper sausage?
-While the food was good, the lack of smokey flavors and smokey crusts (looking at you brisket and allegedly 4 hour smokes ribs) made this ultimately forgettable.
-Lack of "wetness" throughout all the dishes. Yes sauces were supplied, but it would work better if the sauce is provided in a "dunking" bowl. Everything really needed some sauce.

    Summary:
I see people praising the food in the reviews, but I was left unimpressed. Any of the mains could have been served at any other Restaurant and I would not have known it was smoked.

I'm from NC and this really reminded me of home in the best way. I think it's the best smoked meat in the cape. Great basic sauces and friendly people. Cool atmosphere. Craft beer. Soon a brewery. Loved it.

Really nice place. Eventually took a lazy Sunday to go and experience the cuisine and atmosphere after promising music to do so for years of driving past on way to our if town business sites.

    Was definitively with it.

The staff are friendly, the food was very good for the most part, and the views are stunning.

I would recommend sitting in the out house as you get a full appreciation of the stunning surroundings while you eat and converse.

We ordered the poster with extras. The hero of the piece was by for the brisket, it was absolutely devine. The salads where also all good and the pull pork was to quality as well.

The ribs however left much to be desired. They where extremely dry and tasteless. This was only a minor blip on a very good experience.

I would recommend taking a lazy drive out and treating yourself to their very good food.

Was there to have lunch for my birthday today and it was absolutely lovely. Professional and friendly staff and service, out-of-this-world food, wonderful decor and facilities. Kid- and pet-friendly with picturesque views. Will definitely be back there, it's a must to stop when road-tripping on the N2.

Fantastic smells and tastes from back home. Great find here in the tip of Africa if you're a homesick American 🇺🇸 great to see this tasty and authentic place out here in 🇿🇦

I got the pulled pork and my wife had the baby back ribs. Both were delicious. The meat was falling off the ribs, and the pulled pork made my week. Finished the lunch off with their homemade brownie that took me back to my grandmama's kitchen and all the best childhood memories.

First time, but will be back frequently! I tried to convince my wife that we should spend our upcoming anniversary weekend here, I loved it that much!

Keep up the great work y'all!

Laid back vibe. Great brisket!! (Get it on a bun). The beans were unforgettable especially with the chili sauce.
    Friendly staff.
Would have liked something like a snack basket (wanted to try everything)
Baby back ribs were unfortunetaly not that great. (Need more flavour)
    Would visit again though.
