Very good hotel, with amazing staff. Amazing mixture of modern and African colonial design. It is at the airport, but you don't here any noise. Restaurant has a relatively small menu.

Great hotel for overnight prior to another flight. Not the cheapest around by far, but a really good location and great buffet breakfast. Recommend!

Tips:
- best hotel to stay at if transiting at the airport. Just walk out of the doors (do NOT go to the basement) and its right in front of you
- typical Intercontinental standard - between a 4 and a 5 star hotel
- rooms are quiet despite being next to the airport
- great showers
- had a really good night's sleep in the comfy bed
- try to get breakfast included when you book - its $240 otherwise for the full buffet, $210 for a continental buffet, and $100-$150 for a hot egg dish a la carte
- dinner is not bad, although service was a bit slow and the food was decent, not spectacular. Prices were around $200-$400 per main dish, $100-$200 for starters
- download the IHG app. You will get an offer during check-in. I received a "free starter when you purchase a main for dinner" which made the meal a very good value.response / report this review -

I unfortunately had a well below standard experience at this hotel. It is meant to be a 5 star hotel, and I was quite taken aback by the poor service I received. I booked and paid on line for accommodation 5 days prior to checking in. Upon arriving at the check in, I was told that there was no record of payment and that I needed to pay the full amount up front. I challenged this as I knew that I had paid. The front office lady then spoke to the manager who also could not see the payment on his system. Stupidly, and under duress as I needed the room, I gave my credit card again for a so called hold on the account. Surprisingly, which is quite amazing, some 15 minutes later they found the payment, but would not reverse the amount until check out, which I found completely unacceptable. I also found it quite alarming that a 5 star establishment could not track a customers payment 5 days later. I am a South African resident so the amount to stay at your hotel is quite steep and to have to pay twice meant I was out of pocket for the time, which I should not have needed to experience. At check out I was once again advised that the payment or hold would be reversed. It was still not reversed the next day when I looked and was only reversed 2 days later. Thankfully it was reversed, but clearly the amount should not have been deducted twice in the first place. Sorry, but I will not be coming back and will not recommend this hotel to anyone

Just stopped for dinner at Quill's before a flight. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, they even managed to offer us dinner in the lounge since the main restaurant was full. The decor was incredible across the ground floor and the Quill's restaurant stood out. Our waiter was lovely and very patient, with fantastic knowledge of the menu. This is important as one of our party had a nut allergy and the staff instantly knew what was and wasn't safe. Would definitely eat here again, the food was a little expensive for South Africa but absolutely worth it. Food and drink was amazing and great value vs most of Europe. Even the bathrooms were beautifully kept and clean.

One of the best airport hotels is the Intercontinental O.R.Tambo at Johannesburg airport, JNB, it located right across from departures so it will take you no more than a few minutes to walk over. The hotel is in a modern style with African features making it very pleasant. The rooms are big and very well designed, if you select an executive room the you a lot of extra features in your room as well as access to the club lounge. They have a gym and pool on the top floor with a great view over town and the airport. The hotel also has a full service Spa with all the treatment and facilities that comes with that. There is both a bar and a restaurant on the ground floor and there is 24/7 room service. Staff are friendly and helpful so if you have a stopover or an early flight it is an excellent choice.

Conveniently located just across the road from airport. If you have a short transit, this is the perfect place to unwind.

Luxury hotel beautifully decorated. 50 yards from airport and you can use airport luggage trolleys! Excellent restaurant and bar. Beautifully appointed rooms. Excellent workout area. Wish i were here for a few more days! Pool and spa!

Very good hotel, not so big that it becomes impersonal, very comfortable, good service, and so close to the check-in and arrival that you hardly notice you are not right inside the airport.
