We had dinner before a show and our first time at Virginia’s. The corn bread quarters were dried out stale. The chicken livers were fried dark brown so crunchy. The three crab cakes were flat like sausage patties and also over fried to a dark brown. They were serve over a PILE of greens and burnt leeks. Not a good presentation. The bourbon chocolate ice cream was delicious. You should never walk out of a restaurant feeling like you wasted $75. This is not a 4 star establishment in our opinion.

Most items on the menu have 1 little thing that makes me not like it, but the fried chicken was really good.
Skin was crispy and the meat wass very moist. Portion was very large. The mashed potatoes were a little plain, but very good. The macaroni and cheese had a good cheese crust and tender noidles.response / report this review -

My daughter would rate her breakfast much higher. My eggs were so raw I could not eat anything on my plate. My daughter ordered shrimp and grits and enjoyed them. The waitress forgot to bring my coffee and never offered a refill. My daughter ordered a cappuccino and was very pleased. The waitress forgot to bring my butter and the biscuit fell apart. My breakfast was a very expensive and disappointing experience. I rarely tip less than 20%, I did at VOK. To end on a positive note, they had Internet for guest.

Enjoyed my breakfast. The absolute best item of my meal was the grits. I am a southern girl and have eaten grits all of my life. Came to Virginia ' s and experienced the most awesome grits. Best i have ever eaten. Thank you.

This was a lovely place to eat brunch on a Friday morning. We made reservations but didn't need them at 11:30am as there were plenty of open tables. The fried green tomatoes were seasoned and cooked deliciously and my Oyster Po' Boy sandwich was very tasty, a generous side of fries also seasoned to perfection. My sister had the She Crab soup and found it to be a bit too heavy on the sherry. Service was good, very friendly and helpful staff, priced well, great selection of traditional Southern favorites they also have a great eclectic beer selection, I would certainly recommend it.

What a lovely, quaint little brunch spot perfectly nestled on King Street in downtown Charleston. Had brunch on a Sunday with great company and our waitress was Mabry Who is equally delightful. The biscuits are similar to what my grandmother makes and the coffee is the best cup I have had in Charleston at a single restaurant. My first time having tomato pie even though I have lived in the south most on life, but it certainly will not be my last! They set the bar. Try the hot links with cane syrup dip and make sure to put the housemaid marmalade on your big fat biscuit.

This was a random find as we were quickly trying to locate a place to get out of the rain on a Sunday. And it turned out to be one of the better dining options on King St. Esp for brunch. It's best to have a reservation though. I think we lucked up getting a table because the rain kept people away. The food took quite a while so don't go if you're in a hurry. But for good southern fare and friendly service go! (And get the pancakes!) The patience will pay off. Overall, very lovely and quaint.

The staff was very courteous and pleasant. My mom and I enjoyed our meals. It was a casual environment, but quiet. Sam was great. He even provide some helpful information about the surrounding area for more shopping and dining. It was my Mom (Virginia's) birthday weekend, so we had to come.

Excellent fried quail legs for an appetizer! Virginia's Fried chicken was my favorite dish but the Fish and Grits and Perloo were also very good. Sides of greens and squash casserole YUM! Service was superb. Highly recommend!

This place is awesome! We came in on Easter morning even though they were fully booked they found a place for us to sit. All of the food was great and the coffee too. Hope to visit again!

Virginia's on King did a FANTASTIC job for our rehearsal dinner!! I had booked our rehearsal dinner somewhere in Mt Pleasant but then we found out that our wedding was going to be the same weekend as the bridge run so I decided to move it away from the Mt Pleasant area! Because of that, I ended up booking Virginia's on King a little more last minute than I would have liked. I wanted somewhere that was affordable, easily accessible and in the heart of Charleston that my family and friends could be comfortable in. I hadn't tried the food at Virginia's on King except brunch one time a couple of years ago so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. The food was great and all of our guests really enjoyed their meals with no complaints!! We had a guest with Celiac disease and they were VERY accommodating with no issues or questions asked at all! The service was amazing the night of our rehearsal dinner, they checked in with us several times to make sure everything was perfect. The bar setup was perfect and the room was a PERFECT size for about 40 guests! We were all comfortable, the decor was nice and very southern/charleston, and everything else was great! No complaints at all and definitely one of the more affordable options in Charleston! Would highly recommend!

Was arrived in Savannah on 3/20, no Shrimp and Grits. We took the train to Charleston on my last night in the South we found grits. I had fish and grits with hush puppies. Wow the hush puppies were crispy on the outside and tasty inside. The fish was crispy and flaky while the grits had a thickness that was enjoyable. Nine of us and we enjoyed our meals. If you like squash try the casserole.
