Been here 6 hours, still in pain, staff is no help, doctor is useless, and Everytime I ask about anything, no body seems to know. I'm disgusted
I would not even give 1 star, but it would not let me go forward otherwise..my 1st grandson was born here on november 22, and contracted MRSA!!!!!! He was re-admitted after being sent home, 2 days old, put on iv antibiotics, which were changed 2x . The hospital cultures came back as impetigo, the pediatrician's came back as MRSA, which we found out at his appointment on 12/11. He was then taken off amoxicillin which the hospital prescribed to go home, and put on clyndomycin, since amoxicillin was not for MRSA. He has had diarrhea from endless antibiotics, because of the incompetence at vassar!!!!! All my daughter's prenatal tests were NEGATIVE, so this had to be contracted AT THE NURSERY!!!!! This has been a NIGHTMARE for our family, which should have been the happiest time of our livesif anyone else born during November/December has had a similar nightmare, please share it
I am sad to say the experience my family and I had at Vassar was a DISGRACE! Very unprofessional and can you say "ghetto" for lack of a better word? I mean they had patients sitting on chairs in the middle of the hall due to "not having space" we waited for 3 1/2 hours for the doctor to act like he had no idea what we were talking about. We had to explain why we were there to everyone we encountered which was three nurses AND the doctor. Which means no one was writing anything down or taking notes for the next nurse or doctor. Ridiculous. Never again. St Luke's was a much better hospital by far.
Thanks Dianne G Thomson PA-C for leaving me in a wheelchair for 3 1/2 hours during my entire visit and never moving to a bed despite having a swollen and pain ridden leg. Thanks for never bringing me that Ibuprofen and then sending me home like this swelling was all my fault. This hospital is a joke.
I had bleeding in both my ears and my balance was off and had slurred speech (all signs of a brain injury or stroke) and they let me go home. This hospital almost caused me my life and they are rude.
I find this place quite good medically. However the information and communications protocols are awful. The nurses seem kept in the dark and doctors are hard to find. I got information about the rescheduling of a surgical procedure from the dietician first! Staff are generally quite competent and personable, but if you're not prepared to be very proactive about finding out anything about anything, you will simply know nothing.
VBMC cancelled a much needed weekly support group for families who suffered the loss of a child called HANDS. This support group was a life line for many people in the Hudson Valley for 26 over the years. So sad!!!!
As a retired nurse I understand both sides of the situation. My sister was told to go there because she needed to be admitted. We sat there for 3 hours and never saw a doctor or nurse . Finally a male nurse comes in to start an iv after 3 tries his 4th time he said he got it in but it infiltrated. Had to be done again by someone else. I had to finally leave and what I saw was astounding. There were at least 6 RN's sitting at the nurses station on computers no eye contact. I had to look at the assignment chart on wall to find out who was her nurse. After calling his name 3X he spoke. This is not the type of nursing I know Sad situation. SCARY TOO
Excellent patient care. The nursing staff did very well in caring for our needs. We would definitely recommend it.
The care here is dreadfully substandard. At one point, after serious abdominal surgery, I had to use the room's land line to call the floor's nurse's station because no one answered my call button for over 45 minutes. While walking the halls- part of my recuperation therapy- I could hear patients calling "Help!,", "Miss?!!, "Is anyone there?" as aides stood chatting in the hall. I had an aide kick a wastebasket to me when I told her I thought I was going to be ill instead of grabbing a basin that was just as close by. In addition to all of this (& a dangerous machine malfunction during an earlier procedure) I've been charged over $7,000 by an anesthesiologist who doesn't accept my insurance without ever being notified in advance of my pre-scheduled surgery that this was the case. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
DRA is now the Dyson Center, which is part of Vassar Hospital. I went for a routine yearly mammogram. My insurance was charge as if I were an outpatient . They don't ask you for a co-pay while you are there. They send a bill. My co-pay was $40.00. It has always been a $20.00 co-pay Is that insurance fraud? I will be taking my business elsewhere. Tell your friends.
I could not have had a better experience as I underwent thoracic surgery. All the treatment was extraordinary from the biopsy radiology staff to the surgery 10 days later. I am three weeks into recovery and feel like I had the best care possible. The nursing staff was extremely attentive and mysurgeon Dr. Cliff Connery is my hero.
I had a baby delivered there. also my grandson. So far there is only one doctor I would not recommend. Otherwise if it was me I would refer people to go there. Vassar has pretty good service.
