Although this may be one of the smallest of the Vanderbilt mansions, it is a gem and will bring you back to the gilded age. Our tour guide was funny and personable. Seeing it decked out for Christmas was magical. In warmer weather the grounds are lovely to walk.

Beautiful grounds. Great for picnics and walks. Can go to the river and take in the views. Go on trails to Roosevelt house. The mansion itself is fabulous. Beautiful tours are given. A must see if ever in hyde Park. The rose gardens are unbelievable Just a beautiful place to visit

Large gentle sloping free grounds. Many trails, pet friendly. Great for photos or picnic. Mansion $10 can walk through in 1 hour recommend tour.

Bill our Tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Impressive mansion, grounds and views of the Hudson River and Valley. Large renovation project still has grounds around the mansion torn up. Most of the scaffolding was down in the rest should be down within a week. The inside was a bit dark because the windows were covered but you still get a great feel For how it looked back at the time they turned it over to the park services.

This place has always been a great place for anyone and everyone. Anytime of year because they also have tours of the Mansion and in the summer you can bring a blanket and simply enjoy the day with your family with a good old fashioned pic nic! Walk the road/walkways and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Hudson River and the changing fall foliage, whatever you like to do, if it involves outdoors this is an awesome place.

Great tour of this "summer cottage" that used to being to the Vanderbilts. The mansion in the size of a small hotel. Very informative and professional guides, and after the tour you can stroll the grounds and have a picnic.

They're currently renovating so a lot of the furniture had been moved or covered and there's a lot of scaffolding around the whole outside, but the parts that we could see were great. Renovations are supposed to be complete by the end of 2017. Lots of beautiful rooms full of ornate detail. Very nice and knowledgeable tour guide. The gardens are a five minute walk from the house and they're definitely worth it. Not huge but very pretty. There's a bit if a view of the Hudson from on the grounds which is very pretty, but from most vantage points it's obscured by trees. There is a little stream with a nice bridge that you cross over on your way into the grounds.

Beautiful grounds to picnic and take walks on. It's free to enter the grounds and the garden, but you'll have to pay to go into the mansion. It's worth making the drive here just for the picnic areas alone. you can even walk down to near the river for a beautiful photo op.

Beautiful grounds. Nice day stroll through the woods, on the paved pathways, through the garden, and even down to the river. Plenty of grass areas to have a picnic or sun bathe. There are also picnic tables. Pet friendly too! Amazing views.

Beautiful house and grounds full of history and charm. The guided tour is a must to truly understand the people and times they lived in. Dmitri was incredibly knowledgeable and funny too. A great guide and place to visit.

The mansion is nice to tour, and the grounds are even more spectacular! From the bridge that spans the creek at the entryway, to the gardens, and the view overlooking the Hudson River, it is gorgeous. I've visited many times and try to get back once a year. Highly recommend visiting in the fall!

Undergoing reconstruction forbids to see second floor bedrooms and most of the first floor furnitures were covered. With third floor closed to public permanently, there's not much to see They promised I'd be over in couple of months. But I don't think I will come again for a tour.
The grounds are beautiful and well kept.

A must see when touring the homes along the Hudson. Beautiful grounds, building and furnishings. Combine this with a visit to Franklin Roosevelt's estate and library and Samuel Morse's Locust Grove with it's free museum of this fascinating inventor and you will have a full and interesting day.
