Care of cats, dogs and other pets. Dr. Walters, DVM and Dr. Ewart, DVM are excellent diagnosticians and I have been very impressed with the quality of care my cats and a neighbor's dog receive. The staff are friendly, helpful and very professional. The technicians are gentle with the animals which had not been my experience with an animal clinic I had used previously in the area. You can tell that everyone at VCA Legion Road Animal Hospital love animals and work with the owners to give the highest quality of personalized care to the furry members of your family. Excellent animal care; I recommend them highly.
The vets and staff are always very friendly and love my dog however I have never come to an appointment and not had to wait quite a while to finally be seen :(
We LOVE VCA Legion Road, especially Dr. Ewart. We stumbled upon this office the day after impulsively taking in a dog off the street, thinking all we'd need were some vaccines, an exam, and some flea/tick/heart worm meds and be on our way. Through a series of unfortunate events, we've had to see these folks quite a bit, and they have been 100% amazing. Kind, compassionate, and patient. Even when I was there late on Friday sobbing because my dog was mysteriously ill and not improving, Dr. Ewart missed a god deal of the UNC playoff game and didn't bat an eye. He called to check on her the next day, had us come in just so he could lay eyes on her, didn't charge us for that visit, and had us to the NCSU emergency room that night for emergency surgery. ALL the techs have been great and shown a true love for animals (Brittany, Keli, Chris, and others I can't remember). We have seen Dr. Walters and Dr. Smith as well, and have gotten kind, compassionate care from everyone. As a healthcare provider myself, I know how vital trust is to a Dr/vet relationship, and I can say that I 100% genuinely trust these folks to give me the honest, straight forward answer that is in the best interest of us and our dog, not their financial gain.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The vets are smart and compassionate, and they don't try to push unnecessary tests or treatments on you. They also have good payment plan options. We take our cats and our dog there
It was great there. Friendly staff. Cheaper than I expected everything to be. Will keep going here.
Legion Rd. VCA gave my rescue kitten great care and even gave me a discount for saving and re-homing him.
I take my 5 year old cat here too, always had good experiences.
Not cheap care, but the cost is justified.
I have used these guys for years for my cats. They have always been helpful and have done a good job.
I have taken my dog to Legion Road since we adopted him back in 2005. We have seen several different vets over the years and each one has taken excellent care of my fur baby. We have been seeing Dr. Smith for a skin condition that recently developed; he has been very helpful and we have seen an improvement.
Recently my roommate and I brought his dog in to see the vet because the dog had become dangerously aggressive with the two other dogs in the apartment. Dr. B was incredibly rude and presumptuous. We had spent the last year trying to find a solution to this dog aggression, but had not been successful. Dr. B acted as though we were incompetent and had not tried a thing. His "solutions" were ridiculous, unless of course you had enough money to hire a personal dog trainer or a spacious house with different areas that each dog could occupy. After trying to explain that we didn't have those resources, he said that keeping the aggressive dog in a crate all day was a good solution. Dr. B showed no regard for the quality of life of any of the three dogs nor respect or compassion for the heartbroken and desperate dog owners. He was condescending, arrogant, and rude! I have had animals all my life and never had such a deplorable experience with a veterinarian! I would, however, like to say that when the Vet Tech, Becky, was with us alone, she provided us with very useful and helpful information in a compassionate and professional manner. Dr. B would benefit from taking a few lessons from Becky!!! When a pet owner is desperate and heartbroken over their animals, they should at the very least feel supported and safe consulting with their vet. Apparently, Dr. B doesn't feel the same!
