Our Gerbil, Blackjack, has made a full recovery after his procedure! Thank you for the great care.
Love this place! They take such amazing care of my Guinea Pig! 😍
Excellent experience with our foster pot belly pig's neuter surgery. Kind, caring staff. Pumba loved them!
I had to bring my mini Rex rabbit in because he had stopped eating, and the staff and vets were warm, helpful and informative with every decision I made. He had GI Stasis, and we eventually brought him back to haven't x-rays done when he stopped eating again after the first treatment. Unfortunately, we had to put my fur baby down, but they gave me information and were able to answer my questions about what to expect either way. They weren't judgmental and were such a blessing to us in how they cared for him in just the week and a half that we interacted with them (we live in Mebane). Thanks Avian staff for helping make Mason's last week more bearable. 💕 I wouldn't have been able to give him pain medicine and let him eat his favorite foods and enjoy playing without you all.
Best place for Birds! The people are very knowledgeable and friendly. And always take care of my animals.
I and my husband took our pet rats salt and pepper. They gave us very good info about treatment plan for both of them for their wheezing problem. They gave us medication to help them. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. We will definitely be seeing them again.
I have been a regular client of Avian and Exotic for over 15 years for the care of several guinea pigs and now my rabbit of 4 years. They are simply the best for exotic pets and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have read some posts complaining about the cost. Yes, owning a pet is expensive if you want to take proper care of it, which is something that needs to be seriously considered before ever owning one. There is also inexpensive pet insurance for exotics that will cover medical bills for sickness and injury, which for my rabbit, is only $120 per year in premiums. I pay for my rabbit's 2 semi-annual checkups out-of-pocket, and fortunately, have not had to use my pet insurance yet. That will probably change as he gets older, but at least I have some peace of mind that the insurance is in place to help offset any big medical costs.
First time visiting Avian and Exotic Animal Care today with my new baby guinea pig for a general physical. Dr. Emanuele was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and incredibly sweet! She answered every single question I had. She quickly identified a couple small issues with my piggy that are luckily easy to treat, and began medication right away. Will definitely be going back for all of his care. A thumbs up and big thanks to Dr. Emanuele and team!
I've only been once so far, but they took good care of my bunny. I certainly won't hesitate to come back for his future medical needs. :-)
Friendly and helpful staff. I went with a friend, but if I had an exotic pet, I would take it here.
At the beginning of the year, my beardie Misha developed a small patch of what I suspected to be yellow fungus on his tail. I took him to a different vet who wasted time and money by giving him a liver test because his tongue was yellow (as it was supposed to be) instead of testing for fungus, and wanted to just put him on antibiotics without knowing what it was, which I refused, as it can cause yellow fungus if that wasn't what he already had, so they told me to use SSD ointment on the spot for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks the spot had doubled in size and spread to more of his tail, and the vet wanted to start him on antifungal shots, which sounded like unnecessary pain for a lizard. Instead I took him to Avian & Exotic care, and I could tell they knew what they were doing and cared about my little guy. They put him on an oral antifungal and antibiotic, which I fed to him on leafy greens, in addition to a probiotic supplement. To this day, he is in great shape. Healthy as can be, super active, and no more discolored patches :)
I brought in a baby guinea pig to be sexed, doctor told me he was a female, so I didn't question it. Turns out the she was a he and now I have six baby guinea pigs I need homes for. Thanks a lot. I really deserve a refund.
They're definitely taking advantage of their clients. Nowhere should be as expensive as they are. Shop around, people.
the staff and veterinarians at Avian and Exotic Animal Care are the best on the East Coast, and possibly in the country.
My pet could not have been operated without Dr Dan's skill at intubation (my pet could not breath under most types of anesthetic due to the nature of his problem). Dr Dan was able to work on my pet successfully and with wonderful results. My pet's life was saved by his marvelous team of professionals. I cannot recommend a veterinary practice more strongly. Follow up is wonderful and the kind staff makes the difficult time (waiting during surgery) much easier.
