The best views of Jacksonville, relaxing atmosphere and good food. Nice place for an event. Truly sorry to see it closing the end of 2016 :-(

The University Club has been around for 48 years and has some of the best views in and of the city. The staff is great and always have smiling faces. Food off the menu is excellent, with banquet food running on par with other cc's in the area. The views day or night are breathtaking. Bar prices in MEL'S (a bar named after 3 employees who have each been there for more than 30 years) are also about average with other country clubs, unless you happen to catch happy hour which is a great deal. Unfortunately, their parent company ClubCorp, decided to close the Club as of December 20, 2016. It's a loss for the community, staff, and patrons. Better get by before they close, last chance to see the view before they cut it up into "premier office space"

This was my very first visit here last Saturday. I was attending a retirement party, and I arrived 30 minutes early. One of the attendants told me I could go to the bar. Upon ordering a drink, I was then informed, they are a cashless bar. There was NO sign to tell the non-members this. I had to get 3to 4 times to search for cash which I found another attendant to give cash. One bartender was named Patrick never acknowledged me at All. The other lady that did pretty much left me to fend for myself after discovering I didn't have exact change. I have heard great things about this place from friends. But this experience completely turned me off. I'm huge on customer service because I also am a service provider. There are great bars downtown with even greater selection of drinks than this place to to treated as such. I'm sure this may just be an oversight. But I will not grace that bar again or consider a membership.
