Only been to their light's festival that they do for the evening's during the Christmas season for the second year in a row the kids love iteven my never impressed 10 year old daughter that usually fiends everything boring! They have a really cool train ride with polar express music from the animated movie which was cool, the lights were very nice they also had a Disney princess theme with two women dressed as Disney princess posed for pictures with kids whicj my 7 year old loved and right next to them was a face painting display in the sting ray & Shark petting pool which is pretty awesome that the kid's & adults can't seem to get enough of! NOTE: The night event is Free it's a suggestion to donate canned goods for a food drive they have going on at the entrance so it's for a great cause!

Great little zoo. We are members and visit at least once a week. It’s the perfect size for younger kids as you can walk the entire thing in under 2 hours. All of the animals can easily be seen and there’s even a fun playground.

It was horrible. Way to loud for the poor animals and the touch tank which should be altogether shut down. Animals being forced to be handled all the time with no where to hide sounds like cruelty to me. There are very few animals in a large area yet the animals do not have enough room they also all looked very thin. This zoo should be shut down in my opinion. I have a low opinion on zoos altogether and this was the absolute perfect example of everything I hate about it.

Great little zoo, my son's favorite place. Nice exhibits where it is easy to see the animals, even for young children. Also has a great little train ride along the reservoir. We get annual memberships for the whole family and go often which is a great option. Parking is in a parking structure and usually is not a problem.

Very nice but small. The whole zoo could be lightly toured in 2 hours. You should plan for another activity after.
But generally people are friendly, it's clean, wheelchair and stroller accessible everywhere

If you like to see animals in a quiet, calm environment, DO NOT come here! It's little more than a thinly disguised kiddie amusement park with a few animals as a diversion. Lots of loud music (boom, boom, boom!) and eateries. It sucks if you are an animal-loving adult.

Beautiful grounds, features amazing animals, including hands on for kids but most of all the staff is amazing. We had a wonderful experience, especially with Lisa who went out of her way to accommodate us and make a little boys day! That's what makes a place pleasurable

Great experience there! Plenty of animals to keep you occupied. Clean facility and perfect family activity. Well worth the $15. Would definitely want to go again

We go to turtle back zoo at least once a year in summer. Its such a great place to spend the whole day with kids. Me and my husband also enjoy along with the kids. The zoo is pretty big with a wide variety of animals and they are always adding more animals. This year they added Lions, hyenas and Sea Lions exhibits.A wonderful experience overall every time
    Definitely recommend it to everybody

My kids had an amazing time from start to finish!!! They love the train and all the different animals. The park is easy to navigate with small children with animals at every turn. They touched the sting rays and watched sea lions dive in the water. If I could go back every day I would take them just to see the smile on their faces!!!!

Be careful when you got o wash your hands for the sting rays. They do not dry the floor and both my kids would have fallen if they were not holding my hands

Place was very well kept and well maintained. Animals all looked healthy with a variety from reptiles to wolves, lions, mammals, sea lions and birds. My kids loved the Touch Tank. The train ride was a great addition too especially that it was inclusive on the admission ticket already. The Aviary and Butterly tent were memorable experiences for my little ones. Strongly recommended!

It's one of the best Zoos for kids near Jersey City.
The paths are clear and takes around 4 Hrs. for entire zoo.
The locality is beautiful and you can take a walk around the nearby lake as well.

Public transport connectivity is not that good with New York City/Jersey City.

Good for young kids. Some of the exhibits are old school zoo with cages that are difficult to see through and get a good look at the animals. The newer ones are worth seeing. They are making a new lion exhibit. The place is hit or miss on being crowded during the week. It can be overrun with class trips and can be nightmarish. The other issue is shade. It has virtually no shade or trees near many of the older exhibits. On hot days it can be brutally hot. And the place is a bit of a maze, you can get lost easily if you don't have a map.

Food is decent albeit slightly overpriced but that's par for the course generally.

The new giraffe exhibit is my favorite, and it's great to see the zoo expanding year after year. A spacious cafeteria with outdoor seating (serves wine and beer on the top floor), carousel and dinosaur playground are terrific. Even when it gets really hot, there's shady areas and indoor exhibits to visit, for cooling down. Outside food and drinks are allowed (there's seating near the gibbons and covered seating towards the middle/back of the zoo), which is a plus.

The one year family pass for around $90 is a good deal.

I love this zoo! It's a great place for small children. I've been coming to this zoo for 8 years and it's perfect for me and my 2 sons. It's a small zoo. You can spend a few hours and have a great time. The exhibits are wonderful and they're always adding something new. It's clean. The cafe has great food options. We love the train and carousel. And we also love visiting the holiday lights spectacular every year before Xmas. We just have to take a picture with Santa. It's a must! I look forward to visiting the zoo a few times every summer right through December. Great family place.
