The zoo is huge. Open year round, there are a variety of activities for all ages. The animals are beautiful and are almost always out, especially during the warmer months. To see everything, you need to be there all day. The place is so big that you might even need two. The bug carousel is always fun, especially for the younger ones. Make sure to buy tickets online for a cheaper admission!

I remember visiting this zoo in 1995. As a teenager, I was deeply impressed back then by the ‚rain forest‘ it featured and the modern outdoor facilities for the animals. Looking back at it after visiting again in 2017, this zoo is really not up to speed compared to its larger European siblings. Zurich Zoo has a 120‘000sq foot rain forest where monkeys, bats, chameleons and other animals roam freely among the visitors, multiple extensive restaurants, modern facilities for almost all other kinds of animals including the large inhabitants of the African savanna. Unfortunately, Bronx Zoo has not managed to uphold the standard it set 20 years ago. We visited in December. Many larger mammals such as the lions were locked up as they are only ‚on display‘ in outdoor facilities, the giraffes and rhinos led a miserable existence in very small indoor housings. The gorillas, one of the main attractions with an entire compound including a theater dedicated to them and the destruction of their natural habitat, could only be seen through a tiny window of a very old fashioned indoor facility. The only restaurant served the same dismal cuisine you would get at a small town fast food joint. Overall, a very strange and disappointing experience for a seemingly major and over advertised institution.

As an adult, I would think visiting the Bronx Zoo would be lame. But I actually had fun with friends. They have another attractions besides the animals. They have a jungle gym for adults. That was really fun to do. A 4D theater. And a Carousel to name a few.

Love this zoo. Loved it when I was a kid and now I love bringing my kids to it. This year we visited the treetop adventure. It was worth the long line. My kids had a blast, climbing and being up high. Visiting this zoo will take up your entire day if you want to visit all it has to offer. My kids also enjoys the extras like the butterfly house and merry go round. They have a huge cafeteria, with some vegetarian or non-meat selection.

Absolutely amazing!! Came early right at opening, got in for free as an NYC college student, and there were no crowds until later in the day which were minimal at worst. There are a lot of open exhibits which really make you feel like you can be close to the animals. In addition, the fall foliage is AMAZING and makes for such a nice walk with friends.

I think I had more fun than my 3 year old goddaughter did. We went for Boo at the Zoo and I'm already planning to take her back again. The only thing I didn't like was how you have to pay for a majority of the exhibits or get the more expensive all inclusive entry ticket.

I haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in quite a while. I got to say it was clean and plenty of ways to get around. There is a nice trolley that you can hop on and hop off and they also have cable carts. Which I found very helpful .As you know the Bronx Zoo is quite big.But I would definitely recommend to get there early because it would probably take you a good five hours to do the entire Bronx Zoo! I recommend before going find out the schedule events of that day. They have a great petting zoo for young kids! And Wednesdays are for free. Have a great time I did!

I love the Zoo! On this visit I brought my daughter's friend and her children for a relaxing afternoon. We live nearby so no pressure to see everything in one day which I think can ruin it for many people as their children get tired and cranky going from exhibit to exhibit. The Zoo is a Massive place with SO much to see and experience that I highly recommend going at least a few times in season. At the very least, make a plan to gently stroll around or decide which animals or exhibits you really want to see and spend the majority of your time truly enjoying those locations. We stopped in the Children's Zoo for a while and afterward they wanted to stay around the large rhino sculptures outside Zoo Center and play which was relaxing. Then a face painting for the four year old then home for dinner. Easy and pleasant afternoon.
Did I mention how much I love the zoo? 👍

One of the best collections of nature's creatures in the world are on display here in my neck of the woods that is the Bronx. From Ants to Zebras you can find it all at the Bronx Zoo. Admission is somewhat on the expensive side but worth every dollar for the care and maintenance of the animals and grounds. It's a good place to bring your children and learn about the different animals and their habitats and regions they come from.

Large zoo, so bring good walking shoes! Good variety of animals, and the bug carousel was a huge hit with my daughter. Only negative for me was that there seemed to be a lot of vehicles driving around while we walked and it seemed we were always in the way. We attended a little off season, so I'm sure in the summer that wouldn't be as big of an issue, but some more signage to let you know vehicles also travel on the road would be nice!

One of the best zoos in the world! The variety of animals they have here is amazing! Although some animals are difficult to spot, but the experience is worth it! You will have to spend an entire day if you want to really see the whole zoo. You can see the zoo for free on Wednesdays, except the special exhibits like Congo Gorilla forest and the Asian Trail. Most of the birds are in open enclosures, some may even fly over your head(they might poop 😆) !

Not just a simple zooit's a huge green park with old artistic animal-themed buildings. Nice environment especially on a light Monday. The animals are quite active and seem enjoy where they stay. Definitely hours of fun.

I have never been so impressed with a zoo. This place will knock your socks off. You forget you are actually at the zoo. The enclosures are so real. You can tell that the staff really care for these animals. Additionally, everyone there are very kind and helpful, always smiling and never rude. The only down side, is the food is rather expensive for what you get. But hey.. it's the zoo. Go have fun!! I will be returning again and again, even though it's a 3 1/2 hour bus trip.

Hadn't been to the zoo in 20 years. My aunt and uncle were visiting so decided to take them for their 1st time. Took advantage of free Wednesday. Paid $16.00 for parking and about $14
per person to get into exhibits. We had a great day. Even though the zoo was crowded lines to the exhibits were pretty short. The only thing I recommend is to bring your own lunch and drinks. A bottle of water and soda will set you back $4 each. Overall it was great to go back. Saw a lot of animals. Lots of walking so bring sensible shoes.

We had a great day at the Bronx zoo. My boyfriend took me there for my birthday. Spending the day walking through the park and seeing all the animals and exhibits was a nice way to spend my birthday. It was good to see that the zoo was kept clean and the best part was we went during the week so there were no long lines to see the exhibits. It was a wonderful day all around.
