Have been coming here for years, well laid out, definitely a tighter campground but it is basically in the city. Only downfall is the cleanliness and upkeep of the showers/restrooms! For such a large money making park it would be nice if they took care of the facilities a bit better!

Lovely place to relax on the beach overlooking the clean blue wavy sea. With a $15 for non resident and $10 for residents, one can have a blast. Good place to be during summer timeI’m assuming it’s closed for winter.

This is a great location for access to all TC and the bay area have to offer. Nice walking bridge over the road to the bay and a very nice shower house on the east end. Most of the sites are good sized too. The down side is that it is between a busy highway and an airport/Coast Guard station, so kind of noisy with air and ground traffic. Also, here in October, there is no ice or firewood available at the park. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Such beautifully clean water. I could've swam for days. The campground was kind of iffy. Absolutely no state park workers after 8pm, which is sketchy in my opinion. (What if there's an emergency?) Bathrooms were kind of dirty and just not kept up with. But the park itself was absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend visiting.

This is a great Michigan State Park! Why? Because of the bike trail to downtown. The sites are decently sized and thankfully we were on the quiet side of the park. We had so much fun riding our bikes downtown to visit all of the breweries. I just wish the bike trail wasn't so close to busy streets, it makes me nervous. It was also fun to be on the flight path to the airport. And we liked being able to drink beer in the park. We will definitely be back!!!

Had the bad luck of getting a campsite where the nearest electricity was 75 feet away. Bathrooms and showers were gross until we discovered they had nicer ones a little down the path. Not sure why there was such a drastic difference between the two. Staff was friendly and helpful. Site was a decent size and the campground was pretty peaceful despite being packed.

Stayed here for two nights over the 4th of July holiday weekend. The park was packed to the gills, but didn't cause us any issues at all. We tent camped with just a few items while most people here have large trailers and big camping setups.

The bathrooms were surprisingly very clean (i usually don't expect much when I'm going camping anywhere!) and at night the campground was also surprisingly quiet for a holiday weekend. If you're wanting a rustic, secluded campground, this place is not for you. But it's a great spot for some low-key camping close to town that's MUCH cheaper than a hotel.

The gate to the bike trail is awesome. The ride to town is not bad at all and it's worth having bikes. Although it's for safety, the only bummer is that the gate that opens to the bike trail closes at 10pm and once it's closed, you have to bike on the busy street around to the front entrance. It's worth hustling back to beat the gate! :)

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Got some great suggestions of areas to visit.

It's a city park, but there are lots of trees. Not always the best privacy, but a great stay for a couple nights. Staff was nice. Bathhouses are clean. Adjacent to the TART Trail is a major plus. It's an easy 3 mile bike ride into town on the trail. Very good place to stay if you plan on visiting all the excellent brewpubs in Traverse City. If you have kids, this is an inexpensive place to stay in what could be an expensive trip to a very
touristy destination. Been coming here since I was a kid in the 80s!😃

It's right on the strip and in the heart of TC but somehow remains secluded and laid back. You'll hear traffic and probably wake up to airplanes taking off and landing nearby, but that's expected when a campground is built in the middle of "the most beautiful Midwest city." Take your bike, the campground backs up to the TART trail. Take your swimsuit and kayak too. The beach is just an overpass walk away.
