There are a lot of really bad dogs and dog owners living here. The dogs are bad but they are mostly just dumb animals. The real fault lies with the irresponsible and self-absorbed owners of these animals. Many people do not like dogs. And lately, even more people are upset with this topic. Don't want to step in dog pee when leaving the building - well make sure you look down. There has been recent issue of dog pee by the entrance. If your neighbor has a dog, it is likely you will sometimes hear it bark inside your own apartment!!!! And taking out garbage, you will hear someone's dark bark just because you walked by their door. These are a few of the many reasons dogs do not belong in apartment buildings.

Moved into The Sterling about 2 months ago and we love it so far.
The arson incident has apparently been taken care of so we don't know what kind of inconvenience it had caused in the past.
The building is beautiful, clean and feels very safe. The units are spacious and modern - we looked at about 5 different units at different price points and floors before moving in. The leasing office was incredibly helpful during our cross-country move - thanks Matt & Jay. The front desk is kind and helpful. Packages are well stored. We are within walking distance from all essentials one can possibly think of. The rooftop & amenities are the cherries on the cake!

There has been a lot going on in this building. Many fire alarm problems, some from arson and since then security measures have been increased. The apartments are nice, all recently renovated in the past few years. Living here during the renovations was difficult. And elevators being renovated as well. Management has made security a top priority so that is good. However, now there is some sidewalk renovation project, the projects are never ending and this one seems particularly unnecessary. Compared to many sidewalks in the city, ours is actually in good shape. So they have now blocked access making it more difficult to come and go let alone unload groceries etc. The parking garage attached to the building is not good, residents have damaged their cars because of the construction back there and lack of space to safely move around. It should have been closed down but it is ran by Patriot Parking and they are greedy. Those in the know certainly avoid it these days. Some residents here are very inconsiderate and loud. Some go in and out slamming their door dozen times a day. Some throw away trash and don't use garbage bags, they just throw their items in the plastic containers which makes the trash rooms smell and could attract bugs. Housekeeping is good however can't keep up at all times. Too many FOB and environmental obsessed millennial residents. The building has seen a shift from more upscale older residents to those currently residing here many consider that a huge negative. Also residents often leave large items in the tiny trash rooms taking up all the space because they are too lazy to walk their items down to the large trash bin like they are supposed to. This happens a lot when apartments turnover/move-outs. Some residents are quiet, studious, busy at work. Others blast music or cook food that smells terrible - expect frequent gross food odors in the hall and possibly coming into your own home. In general the apartments here have better insulation then those in new buildings. That is a plus. Also, management is definitely accessible which is a huge plus. Overall good building just been a million problems but it has potential to be a great building.

Worst place to live - do not believe Sterling's apt promises. Definitely not luxury living or has the security or amenities as many other better quality Philadelphia apartment homes. Apartment cabinets and fixtures are poor quality - the veneer of the kitchen cabinets peel off from the poor quality adhesive on their own, closet organizers are poorly installed not attached to studs in the wall so fall with only a few clothes, and the ac is antique with no common thermostat so hot or freezing as the units are all individual in the apartment. Dryer and washer are cheap quality - look nice but using are poor quality that vent directly into the apartment causing dryer dust to go all over. Building security is lacking - security is not professionally staffed, garage is filled with mold, rodents are common, cockaroaches, leaks and low hanging metal that has caused more than $3600 in damages to our cars that we pay Sterling $700 a month to park. Terminating our parking after this month. If you are a student might be a fun frat place but as a working professional not desirable. Great building and amenities, but if you want to live in a building were the fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night (1 am sometimes) this will be it.

I came to help my son, Andrew, moved in about 3 weeks ago. All the building modifications were a worry as we approached move day after a painful 4 day cross country drive. Hats off to Daniele and Dennis. They went out of the way to make move day go smoothly. We did arrive at 7am (an hour early) on day one to make sure we had a place to park our truck and to get carts for moving. My son signed up for parking in the buildingthat has some real problems. The arson problem is a big frustration that must be fixed.cameras seem to be the best and only solution. The SIPS experience is a great idea but there needs to be better control to make sure the NOISE ends when its supposed to. The potential for a great experience is there..the management team just needs to dot some eyes and cross some "T"'s. get these things done and 5 stars will be automatic.

Just moved-in a few months ago to a higher floor apartment so I don't hear the construction from next door too much and the fire alarms have been fine except for a few bad days in March. I love my large bathroom and the closet space. Everything else has been great so far!

Not a convenient place to live. Many disruptions and high rent prices.

Fire alarms are way too frequent, excessively loud and annoying.

Elevators frequently out of service.

Continuous renovation and construction projects inside and nearby. Lots of noise.

Coming and going from this building has been nothing but huge inconvenience lately because of people with dogs, they are constantly in the way and loitering by the front door and the elevator area. Dog owners need to realize many people do not like their animals and they need to allow other people to come and go and walk thru the building. Management should advise dog owners to have consideration for others!

I felt at home from the first moment. The front area has a concierge 24/7 who are extremely friendly and helpful. The leasing department made the process very easy and accommodating. I moved in the day after signing my lease! The apartment is remodeled with all new appliances with a modern look. Plenty of space for one! Parking is easily accessible and available 24/7 with Patriot under the building. I absolutely love the location and extremely happy with my decision. No other apartment complex beats the sterling and the amenities. Thank you Sterling!
