This elegant hotel offers Kentucky's only 5-star restaurant, The Oak Room. The hotel is gloriously historic and was built in 1905. It's list of guests includes author F. Scott Fitzgerald, and is said to have inspired his book "The Great Gatsby". Al Capone had a secret tunnel under the hotel that he used to escape capture by the FBI when he would visit.

This hotel is a must see when visiting Louisville. Make a reservation for rooms or dining. Be sure to visit with Concierge Larry whom many consider to be the hotel's local historian. He can share stories about famous guests and ghosts.

I attended my husband's end of the year work party here. It was nicely decorated and the food was great. The staff made sure that my water/coffee cup was full and cleared plates in a timely manner. All of the employees were super friendly!

My husband and I had to take an unexpected trip to Louisville to take our daughter to Kosair children’s hospital to have some important tests done. We arrived the hotel late Saturday night and were happily greeted by Corey who is a valet for the hotel. We explained to him why we were in town and let him know that we had to be at the hospital at 9:30 the following morning. As stressed and worried as we were he made us feel like family from the minute we arrived. He carried our bags to are room for us personally and went out of his way to make our daughter feel better by spending some time with us talking to her. Sunday morning my husband goes to the front of the hotel to have one of the valets get our van for us, we were over joyed to see our car already out front warning up for us so my daughter didn’t have to be cold on the way to the hospital! Words can’t express the gratitude me and my family have for how thoughtful that was. Corey truly went above and beyond to ensure us that he genuinely cared about helping us any way that he possibly could. The hotel was remarkably beautiful and along with Corey the entire staff was so helpful and friendly. I can’t wait to come back and visit under different circumstances next year!!

My brother got married here-- beautiful space for it! They were very accommodating of the photographer. The lobby is worth a visit and so is the bar. If you are able to visit the basement, the decor is super interesting. Very old fashioned, but fun.

Stay two days at this hotel for a conference, and had a wonderful time. The staff at the front desk as well as the buffet in the restaurant in the morning were very attentive and friendly. hotel is right on fourth Street, walking distance to many things to do restaurants bars etc. During my stay, the hotel was decorated for the holidays, it added an extra plus to the historic site

Very small room that was slightly shabby. Worn and stained carpet and a tiny, worn bathroom with cracked sink. No ventilation in the bathroom. Noise from the street was awful until a bit past 11pm. You can feel the bass coming from 4th street much of the evening. Cranky breakfast attendant on the exec floor that doesn't think shorts and a t-shirt is appropriate for grabbing a drink. Not a luxury experience. Layer of dust around furniture feet and under dresser. I can overlook the shabby room, but will be going back to the Brown in the future because of the noise.

An old posh historic hotel only 2 blocks from 4th Street Live. Many famous people have stayed and visited the hotel. Has a very infamous bar called The Oak Room. Parts of the hotel are supposed to be haunted, one being Rathskeller space that used to be a bar, now private event space. Gangsters frequented this one time bar, along with The Oak Room; one of them being Al Capone. It's lobby is beautiful with a magnificent grand staircase as it's center attraction. Love this hotel, great location, waking distance to KFC Yum Center/Arena. Highly recommend staying here you won't be sorry.

Arrived at the Seelbach with my wife Friday afternoon and was greeted by one of the valets named Corey. He welcomed us to the hotel and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. He let us know about some restaurants and other attractions in the area which all turned out to be really awesome experiences during our stay in Louisville and was very helpful through out our entire stay at the hotel. The young man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful as well. The hotel itself is very historic and beautifully designed. We were 100% satisfied with our stay at the Seelbach and will definitely be returning in the near future. Bravo!!!

I stayed at the Seelbach for a wedding event. The staff was helpful and valet/check in were easy. The room was not very good. The curtains were falling off the wall, there wasn't much space, and the shower didn't drain very well. Location however was awesome. Just a stones throw from 4th Street Live and other Louisville attractions. We went to the Slugger Museum.

I absolutely love this hotel. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are beautiful. There's so much history as well and it's so fun to learn about it all from the employees there. Larry in the El and Mike at the desk are especially friendly, professional and great at their job :)

Rooms are very nice, not huge, but done very well. Hotel is historic and the staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and the bed was fairly darn comfortable. Would recommend if you need to be in downtown Louisville.

Wow. I mean wow. 5 stars alone on just the architecture and history. The lobby and Rathskellar are astounding. The staff is polite and professional. We experienced no customer service snafus during our two night stay.

This is an OLD hotel and even though the rooms are fairly updated there were quite a few eccentricities in the room: plugs not fitting securely in the wall being the most notable. The bathrooms are small if there are two of you trying to get ready at once.

The hotel is located across the street from Fourth Street Live so if that is your thing, then there is no better place to stay. The Louisville Palace is also a block away. If you are a bourbon aficionado, the Galt House is closer. Having said that it was still only a ten minute walk to Evan Williams through a safe part of downtown.

I stayed here for a wedding in April and overall the hotel was nice. Our room however, did not have working air conditioning. We only stayed for one night and when we checked in we only had an hour before we had to leave for the wedding. We turned the air down once we left and assumed it would be cool when we returned that night, very wrong. The coolest it got was 82 degrees all night, we barely slept. We did not get back to the room until very late that evening and were so tired we did not call the front desk which I understand they probably could have fixed but in the wee hours of the morning you just want to go to sleep in a comfortable setting. The next morning we checked out and I politely told the front desk about the issue so the next guest would not suffer. I did not ask for a credit but I was expecting them to offer me something for the horrible night. She apologized and asked if I had breakfast vouchers (which I did but had to pay for with the hotel rate) and when I said yes she just said okay and sent me on my way. If this was not such a nice hotel and if we did not spend over $200 for a few hours of sleeping then I would not complain. But we did and it was extremely uncomfortable for such an elegant hotel.

Upon arrival, extremely impressed at the welcome and consideration to our needs. A great personal touch from using name, asking about trip and making the best of the stay on property. Rooms very modern (newer property) with all of the conveniences you expect. Outlets where you want them! On site restaurant and lobby areas well laid out. Parking can be
