We went to see the Christmas lights at the Arboreum. It was beautiful. There was plenty of parking and lots people to help with the parking. There were inside activities for the children as well to give them a break from the cold. The facilities offer wheelchairs for people who need them. There is a snack bar offering hot chocolate, wine and a dinner menu. We also had the pleasure of listening to an excellent guitarist who played beautifully while we ate. Definitely on my list to visit again next year. Ticket price was 15.00 per person.

Good place to spend an evening for 2 hours. The whole garden is decorated with different lights and looked beautiful. The place is smaller than we expected and can be covered leisurely. They also have indoor exhibits and activities like crafts for kids. Make sure you visit with proper attire like coat, gloves and hoodie as temperatures can really go low and climate can be windy on this mountain area.

We really like this place!!
The NC Arboretum has beautiful landscaping and in season is a riot of color.
They have year around programs.. Educational displays, classes in dozens of subjects, children's programs, 10 miles of hiking trails through a beautiful national forest and a very nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. Their Holiday event - Winter Lights is superb.

Beautiful well maintained attraction with friends helpful people. Went to the winter light show and it was fantastic. From the parking area to the forest was all decorated to the hilt for Christmas. The chandeliers hanging from trees in one area were fascinating. If you love Christmas lights, you need to come here, it's as festive as you can get!

Great place to spend the day! It costs 14$ to park, but besides that everything is free. We went to see the bonsai exhibit a few weeks ago. It was stunning! Plenty of gorgeous gardens. They have a small butterfly pavilion and a large model train track and town set up.

Visited on 3rd week of October with my Family so got a chance to see nice beautiful foliage, wonderful bonsai collections, excited to see the railroad arrangements, had yummy lunch in the restaurant located at Education center building, have restrooms all around, ample parking lot, well maintained gardens.

Must-do if you are in the Asheville area! Butterfly exhibit, Bonsai Tree exhibit, miles of beautiful gardens and hiking trails. Dogs on leashes welcome everywhere outdoors. There is a cafe on-site. Will come again when we have more time to spend. $14 parking fee.

Beautiful place to take in nature. Spent a couple of hours here taking tons of pictures. Parking was $14 and the only fee for entry. Many trails to explore. Will definitely come back!

This botanical gardens is outstanding. They have 10 miles of immaculately kept trails. They offer interesting lectures. Lots of staff available to answer any questions.

An amazing place to spend an entire day meandering around, absorbing nature, scenery, and the topiary. Admission is a bit steep at $14-16, but the moment you enter, you can see that upkeep is a valued priority.
The nature is exquisite, and there is certainly not shortage of trails to venture along, and smaller attractions along the path, such as bonsai gardens, a miniature railroad, along with a butterfly house and art exhibition.
There's also a nice little cafe located by the bonsai garden, which offers excellent food at somewhat high prices.
Overall, I'd say the Arboretum would be a major selling point and a definitive point of interest on any sojourner's journey.response / report this review -

The grounds are very beautiful. All of the gardens were great but the Bonsai Garden stood out out as particularly amazing. It was very well done and the signs gave a lot of good information on the history and practice of Bonsai.

Honestly pretty underwhelming considering it was late April when I visited and I had to pay a 15 dollar admission fee. Flowers were pretty typical, all the Bonsai trees weren't out. The highlight was the little train village thing, and that was infested with wasps so overall I wouldn't recommend going.

Cloudy rain-threating day - the front gate person was very friendly, the grounds were great to spot all the different flora. Especially like learning new plants and their names. Savory Thyme food was very good.

Beautiful landscaping! Casual walking/biking/running paths. Wonderful youth education programs. Definitely worth the small parking fee.

Little bit mad at these guys. First of all, the address listed here on google as of Feb 23rd 2017 is Incorrect! When we arrived at the address there was a sign that said our "GPS must be out of date." It was kind enough to direct us to the new entrance, however. So, call ahead to get the correct address. The welcome center was huge but did not have much going on, just an exhibit on ancient canoes. Outside I suppose was the garden, but there were hardly any flowers! I understand it's cold in winter but they didn't have any other exhibits or showcases either. This is disappointing especially considering how highly rated they are. Do an outdoor sculpture contest, a cactus or rock garden, something, anything guys! We spent a big chunk of our day trying to come here, and I have to admit it left us wanting more. I bet it's beautiful in the summer though
