Asheville location is fairly quick and painless. Patton location is not good. LONG wait, big crowd, and some of the workers seemed very confused.

Couldn't be less helpful. I get that bureaucracy is tangled and challenging but this group not only didn't provide any customer service, but they couldn't even be bothered to help me find a solution to the challenge. Just the same repeating of the problem over and over. Just totally useless to me.

My husband and I were just turned away from the Patton Street DMV. We were attempting to apply for a NC drivers license. We unfortunately did not have our Social Security cards with us. As senior citizens, the Medicare card is the one we carry . We were told that the Medicare card was not acceptable to verify our Social Security card and were told to go and check the website. And here on the website it states: Medicaid/Medicare Card reflecting the Social Security Number is one of the documents needed to establish proof of Social Security. All other needed requirements were presented for our application.

The people at the Asheville drivers’ license center were extremely rude. I had to go home to get more documents they wanted and when I returned at least a half hour before they closed, they said they wouldn’t be able to help me that day and to go back again, for the third time, the next day. There was only one other person in there at this point, so it was unnecessary for me to have to go back again. I went to a different location instead and the staff was much nicer.

That DMV was LIT. Obviously I went when i knew it wouldnt be busy, and was quickly taken care of by a woman so funny and happy I asked if she was sure she worked at the DMV. I've also had to go when it was quite a bit busier, but the kiosk at the front and overall process is so much more streamlined than the small town i come from. I would have waited an hour and a half to be told i need some more documentaries. Thanks DMV!

Pleasantly surprised how fairly painless that was. Far better experience than what I've had in Colorado. Yes it took a while but as long as you have all of the necessary documents (which they pre-check at the front desk) it's not too bad. The process was efficient and my clerk was friendly and sweet.

Sat in a large group of people and waiting for over an hour. several of us eventually realized they skipped our numbers. I cant say this has ever been a pleasant or even acceptable experience.

Unclear and unhelpful when answering questions about their hours and services provided. Makes the wait much longer and confusing than needed by providing vague answers.

Going to the DMV is never fun, however, today (Thursday March 9th) I went at 8:15 in the morning and it was a painless visit. There were only a couple other customers. The front desk was very nice and easy going, even when I brought in my water bottle (they are forbidden.) I only waited for 2 minutes before getting called to a station. The woman who assisted me was neutral in terms of friendliness, but she got the job done and was helpful (I came in to change my last name on my license.) I was in and out in between 20-30 minutes. For now on, whenever I have to go to the DMV, I'll be going in the early morning!

Very hit or miss. I had to go there 4 times over the last two months and was told each time that the documents I had were not the ones I needed to get my license reinstated. Finally they reinstated my license today because they realized that I actually did have had the correct documents the WHOLE TIME. The wait time in the afternoon on weekdays in short though and there's one or two decent employees but if you don't luck out and get one of the good ones then you are going to experience rudeness and general incompetence.

I was there a total of 2 hours.
Cannon at the front desk is kind, soft spoken, made eye contact and checked on me twice during my time there. It was busy on a Thursday morning. Examiner Grant is a man of few words, layed back, patient and I made him laugh once before I left with a driver's license photo that looks like a 'version' of me.

In the grand scheme:
I spent two hours to obtain a driver's license. In return I don't have to go back for 8 years. Good trade
