We checked in on a Friday and did the valet service. We enjoyed our stay and the hotel was nice overall. The front desk staff was nice as well, as those in the restaurant. My husband and I went and celebrated both of our birthdays. When we got in the car to go home Sunday, we noticed the valet had stolen our gun. There was no forced entry into the car and we never removed our car our entire stay. The valet company is a third party Company hired by the Ellis hotel. You can lock the glove box of your car but they have the key. We filed a claim with the valet company and filed a police report. I called the general manager a week later to make sure he was aware of the incident and to see if there was any compensation the hotel would offer for the inconvenience . I was extremely nice when I called to explain and he cut me off every chance he could. He never once offered even an apology. From the very start of the conversation, he kept cutting me off saying he didn't need to handle it and would have the manager of the valet call me . Every time he cut me off to tell me to tell the manager of valet, I explained to him that we had been talking with the valet company but wondered if there was anything the hotel could do. He was not professional, nor empathetic in any way. He even asked me at one point "don't you know you're supposed to remove your valuables from your car?!"
Yes, we definitely should not have left it in the car . I guess we are naïve and felt it would be safe in a locked vehicle with the valet company employed by a nice hotel. If there was nothing he would offer to us for all this hassle we had to go through that's one thing, but to be rude from the very beginning of the conversation and place blame on us is entirely different. The manager of the valet has been kind to us, the GM of the Ellis hotel, no way. He told me this was the first time he has even heard about the situation. Well, maybe you should check out who you are employing to care for your clients vehicles. I do know things happen and I'm a very nice level headed person. But when you call to reach out to a nice hotel and ask for some help it would be nice not to be met with a rude person who doesn't want to be bothered. Your position is in hospitality. He put a bad taste in my mouth about the entire hotel.
Terrible terrible terrible food. The gravy was rotten for breakfast, multiple guests (including me) complained that the chicken on the salad was so rubbery it was almost beef jerky. And the broccoli soup was so bad, it was literally like pudding. They need a new kitchen staff or a real chef, and i will honestly be reporting them to the city for an inspection, there is no way things are being properly prepared. AVOID
Nice hotel. Wasn't exactly spotless like I expected food or some kind of debris was around the bed. But mostly my rating is for the customer service during check-in. I reserved room via Priceline, the next day I called hotel to confirm and request a double. Arrived at hotel, they had given me a king and then bc I requested a double they said it was an upgrade charge. Um, I have never heard that going from a king to a double was an upgrade. The customer service rep also lied and said that it's not possible to pick room types on any third party site. That is absolutely not true. She was uncaring and borderline rude.
It was in a great location but I will not stay here again. 😝😲
I stayed here for a quick getaway in Atlanta. The location was great and within walking distance to all the attractions I was visiting. The staff was friendly. For the price I paid, however, I felt nickeled and dimed a bit having to pay for the hotel branded bottled water in the room. Plus the room could have been cleaner. It's a nice place to stay, but for the price I was expecting better.
The Ellis Hotel is very centrally located in downtown Atlanta, close to restaurants and bars. The rooms are nice and spacious. The beds are comfortable. I enjoyed my stay.
Medium in my book. Careful at the lobby bar. Asking for an Old Fashion will get you a Gin Martini.
Significant bug and ant problem in room - came back in evening to find my toiletries bag swarmed with ants. Also, no cold water (only hot), and shower water would not turn off. Poorly maintained hotel.
We were hurricane Irma evacuees and they didn't compensate anything not the $80 pet fee not the $30 valet parking and then almost made us pay for parking twice. The hotel food is not worth eating 2 tacos are $25 and not amazing. The hotel staff were rude/stand offish. The room was extremely small, no fridge or microwave. The stand up shower in the show was not worth the expensive stay. Will NEVER stay here again
Nice clean hotel. Friendly people. Nice service. Great hotel for con-goers!
I booked a room for one night at the Ellis for a meeting that I had nearby. The website made it sound like it was something spectacular. I was really interested in the history of the building and thought it would be a really neat place to stay. The staff was very courteous and helpful, but this hotel is NOT worth $250. I expected something much more grand than what it was. Room was also very small and not much to it.
Great hotel. Only bad part is no free breakfast, but the room was clean and the shower was really nice. I was glad that the toiletries were vegan.
Great service, but rooms are outdated. I stayed on the 10th floor with a room on the trolley side and it woke me up both mornings. Cleanliness of the rooms also needs work.
A comfortable boutique hotel in downtown. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but well-appointed. Very good food and great old school R&B music in the public areas. Great music and southern food across the street. Recommended for a few days in Hot 'Lanta.
I love this hotel! It is located in the heart of downtown Atlanta and has a $1 wine happy (half) hour. Valerie at the front desk is friendly, hilarious, and made our stay an extra good time. The only downside is the parking. Aside from that, we will definitely stay again!
Room was better than expected. Great location! Close distance to varies restaurants and entertainment. Looking forward to the next trip. But suggest getting valet parking due to limited parking areas.
