Food was great, drinks were unique and delicious! Only complaint was the wait staff knowing more about their menu than our actual orders, forgetting things, taking a long time, etc. It was Sunday night, so maybe weren’t expecting many people?
I was a visitor in Dallas and it was 2:45 p.m. a lady named Kelly came out of the kitchen and was so helpful, so informative, and so accommodating! Told us specials that were not on the menu. Great atmosphere and excellent service! When I visit again, I'll be back to see her!
It's been a while but I remember this being a good place for brunch. I loved the bottomless drinks but wish your menu had more vegan choices. Thanks!
Best brunch in Dallas, no doubt. $10 strong bottomless mimosas, enough said. The backyard container bar is awesome too, good views, cheap drinks. What more could you ask for?
**DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES/PREFERENCES**
If I could rate this no stars I would. I came here with a group of friends for brunch. I asked our server if the grits in a menu item were cooked with chicken stock because I can't eat that- he said he would ask the kitchen and get back to me. Some time goes by and he brought out everyone's food- including my grits.
Before I could ask our server about it he walked away. I asked someone else about the grits, and when they came back from the kitchen they said it was cooked with chicken stock.
I ordered another item and asked for no bacon and our server reluctantly took my plate of chicken stock grits back. By the time my new plate came out everyone was done eating, and what do you know there's bacon laying on my food. I got our servers attention and told him I had asked for no bacon and that it had bacon on it (clearly). He did NOT apologize at all. I told him I would pick it off, but that it was the second time they messed up my order when it was about something I cannot eat. Our server could not have cared less.
He did not apologize, nor did I get any item comped from my bill. I ended up spending $50 on a meal I that I couldn't even eat. I cannot believe a server would be so careless as to serve someone food they can't eat.
All I have to say is- BEWARE if you have allergies- this place may try to kill you. 0/0 would not recommend to anyone. I hope I don't find that server working anywhere else I go to eat.
Changing my review from 5 to 2 stars.
Sadly I have to revise my previous review. Since Cedars was sold and under new ownership they have stripped away everything this place was all about.
The menu was demolished and stripped down to a crappy uptown style cocktail menu.
The Cedars Old Fashioned was ruined.
I could go on. I just hope the new ownership corrects their mistakes. If they want to put their own stamp on their new bar, change the name.
This is no longer "The Cedars Social"
Good food. Good drinks. Bartender had a lot of attitude and was rather disrespectful to one of my friends. Won't be back.
Loved this place back when Trina/Josh and company were mixing it up. Decided to come back to see if I could revitalize my love of the joint and have to say it was a real downer. Bartender was possibly having a bad day but it's a mood killer to see them slamming towels and muttering curses. Drinks were interesting especially their take on the old fashioned enveloped in wood smoke. Will be back again in hopes for a better experience.
This is my favorite restaurant in Dallas. The food is top notch, and the drinks are even better. I'm a fan of Old Fashions, and they have the best in Dallas hands down. The food portions are great for sharing with friends. We all get something and then share off the small bites menu. I would recommend anyone try this place out!
Hit the place up before and it was solid. It's very unique. It's like sitting in your uncle's house in 1984. Yeah, it is. It's a chill atmosphere with great service and food. Macaroni with fried chickenwhy do you think Jesus came back?
They just opened a "container" bar in the back. Open patio seating, a giant agave/ aloe plant (not sure which) and the Dallas skyline.
