This place is well organized and employees are friendly. Space could be better utilized with more seats and using a token system rather than managing the queue. Reducing one star for that. Overall a good experience.
This is the first positive DMV experience I've ever had. I showed up here at 9:30 on a Monday morning to renew my license. I'm a green card holder so I have to go in person every 6 years and prove I'm legal. There was no line out of the door at that time. I was greeted by a friendly employee who asked me to take a seat until the line around the ropes had gone down. In total I was at the DMV for about 50 minutes. Not the excessive 2-3 hours of previous experiences and the staff I dealt with were all very courteous.
I came in this morning around 8:10 a.m. and was waiting outside with about 8 other people ahead of me. The line moved on pretty quick! Christina Vera is amazing! Even though I did not have all of my things ready, she was very kind and helped me out through everything. I ended up leaving at 9:40 which is super fast since I even had to spend time getting my things ready.
The people here are as useless as they can possibly be. My wife went down to renew her drivers license today. She is recovering from pneumonia. She spent TWO HOURS in line, some of it outside in 85 degrees.
She brought what was required for ID: Her existing license and her current US Passport.
When the droid at the counter looked at her form - and the records in the computer, her SS# did not match. it seems whoever put her SS# into the system almost 20 years ago transposed a number.
My wife called me in tears to find her Social Security card. I found it in our safe, photographed and emailed it to her.
They would not take the photo.
She had to come all the way back to North Dallas and return with the SS Card.
People here are as unhelpful as possible. Bureaucratic, useless individuals who could not possibly care less how much you are inconvenienced or how ridiculous their requirements are.
A US Passport is good for ID in any country on earth - EXCEPT Texas.
Amazing people work here .. the place is small and definitely under staffed yet they try their level best to accommodate all and help as much as they can.
Very helpful people and offer advise help and guidance. Although had to wait for 2 hours but seeing their dedicated efforts I can understand their positions. For me the best DPS experience till date.
Super friendly and helpful staffers. Very professional and fast service. Used the get in line online service. Got there 15 minutes before appointment time. But check-in system said my reservation not found. Fortunately I took a screenshot of the confirmation and the staffer acknowledged that.
Worst DPS branch ever!! waited outside for 2 hours in the queue in very hot climate , after i got my turn , there was a lady at counter "6" . she was joking and laughing at me ,making fun of documents with her co employee. Then later she asked me to bring more documents. She was very rude.
Super small DMV, be prepared to wait hours in line sometimes outside for about 1 hr then another Hour when inside. At least staff is helpful. Wouldn't mind waiting if they had enough space for everyone inside.
I got there at 7:15 was 3th in line the state trooper was very helpful she handed out forms pens made the line go faster and yes they are busy too many people live in dallas anyway got my license and made to work on time.
Was there for 2 hours. The first 40 minutes of which were outside in the sun, sweating. And then inside where you finally get a number. Once at the counter my person was very helpful and friendly though, and had me on my way quickly.
