The exceptional staff in the flooring department at Star Lumber: Vickie, Danae and Angela, makes your experience worth the money. Great quality product and honest opinions are given. The installation, which is contracted out, was absolutely terrible. The quality work was not received from the contractors. This being said, the lovely lady Shana and the customer service warranty department worked hard to fix all the mistakes. The field investigator in the warranty department, Matt, fixed all issues himself to my satisfaction. From my experience I would shop at Star Lumber again.

Customer service is #1! Tammy Cowdin was very understanding and helpful when the Milgard Window rep was not interested in finding a time to replace a defective window. Tammy stepped in this week after finding out that our window had not been replaced and was not scheduled to be replaced after this process started last December. The crew that came out was very respectful, friendly, and cared about what they were doing.

We had our basement stairs upgraded from carpet covered to hard wood. Star Lumber did a good job. The people they sent were always prompt and on time, work fast, did a very clean job and listens/answers all questions and concerns I asked.

Was told before transferring the phone call that our carpet would be re stretched for no charge if they did the install. I finally managed to get to the person that was in charge of scheduling an appointment. She then informed me that the builder purchased the carpet for our basement and therefore the carpet was only warrantied for one year. She told me that if I had bought the carpet personally, that it would still be covered under their warranty. She did confirm that Star laid carpet in the basement. Since it was laid it had several small wrinkles. Over the last couple of years it has gotten worse. When we have company at our house, people stumble over the carpet.
The lady told me that when a builder buys the carpet, Star gives them a better deal and therefore only warrantied the install for one year. However, when the carpet is purchased by the homeowner themselves, they warrantee the install for the lifetime of the carpet.
Therefore, when the builder buys the carpet and gets a better deal, it sounds like the insulation is done very poorly. However, if the customer is willing to pay more, the installation is done better, therefore giving a longer warranty. She proceeded to tell me that the problem was with my builder and not with Star. I told her that I disagreed with her since they laid the carpet, not the builder. She then had the gall to ask me if I wanted to reschedule a time when they could re-stretching my carpet. Now why in the heck would I have them re stretch my carpet and bill me, when they could not do it right in the first place?
From now on, I will make it a point to make sure that no one else runs into this problem with Star. If Star says that the installers always do a great job, then why does the person purchasing the carpet and the price make a difference? In addition, why would be the builders fault that our carpet looks so horrible, when they did not lay it?
