I visited this hotel for an off-site work event. The conference room (I believe it was the Monongahela room) was large, well equipped for our needs, and seemed to be newly built or at least in excellent condition. The location is also excellent with close proximity to South Side Works and East Carson Street. Our group also took advantage of the very convenient shuttle service to avoid walking several blocks to our other work activity. I hope to be able to utilize this hotel again in the future for other work functions.
The hotel was as expected- comfortable, relaxing, convenient. It's what you expect when booking a Marriott. However, the people were friendly, engaging, quick to respond, and accommodating to our needs. We were there for a funeral. We asked for 6 copies of the Pittsburgh Post which had the Obit. However, it was not a paper they had. They made sure we had 6 perfect copies waiting for us first thing in the morning. Amazing. Being unfamiliar with the town, they ensured we got what we needed. Max, their driver, rode us to local places as needed with a constant smile. He treated us like we were his only customer. I cannot say enough about the entire staff- front desk, cleaning people, those taking care of breakfast and social hours. It made an extremely difficult time so much easier on the whole family who stayed there. The hotel is close to Heinz field, shops, restaurants, and downtown. Great location, fantastic service!! Would stay there again.
Rooms were clean and spacious, overall a decent hotel. However, one fairly minor issue really bothered me: the ironing board is absolutely terrible. I don't know how they managed to screw up an ironing board, but they did it. The cover for the board was wrinkled and didn't fit right, with the result being that the wrinkles in the cover transferred to my clothes. Putting a towel over the ironing board fixed this, but then ironing became difficult due to the constantly shifting towel under the clothes. Overall the hotel and room was good, but that one detail managed to irritate me bough to have to mention it.

The Pittsburgh, Southside Marriott was a great experience for my girlfriend and myself. After arriving in town following a flight into Pittsburgh Airport, we decided to not drive the whole way home, but instead drink ourselves utterly silly at Mario's bar in the Southside, which is great by the way, hopefully I get a survey for that visit as well. Upon arriving at the bar, we noticed we were overdressed. However, because of our attire, we attracted the attention of a wonderful couple who commented on our dress. They bought us drinks, we consumed too much and needed a place to stay, the Marriott was that place, and we loved our night there.

Lovely rooms. Great staff. Good breakfast. Train tracks right outside the building which makes for a challenging night sleep. Bring earplugs. That is the only negative I could find about my stay. Everything else was fantastic.

Very clean and cozy. My room was big and had all the amenities. Pool was small but we had it to ourselves. Breakfast was good. Large selection and fresh fruit. Overall, a great hotel with helpful staff.

Great location. Convenient access to the South side restaurants and bars. Short commute to CMU and Pitt. Great service and clean amenities.
The hotel is very nice, the rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. My only critique is that there are train tracks right behind the building with trains that passed a few times during the overnight that unfortunately woke me up.

I am always impressed with SpringHill Suites everywhere I go. This place was either recently built or renovated, and looked amazing. Shuttle can take you to the public transportation to get to Pirates games as well. That is a nice perk considering it is a bit outside of the city. This neighborhood looked like it was just on its way to upscale gentrification when I was there.
The rooms by the train tracks are not livable. Train every 30 minutes at night. Breakfast is a pathetic collection of manufectured food.
