If you have the chance to check out this national historic landmark, I can't recommend this treasure enough. You can almost feel the energy of all those workers from decades ago still on site. If you're a photographer, there are so many shapes and patinas for you to shoot, it's almost overwhelming. The folks at the front counter inside were so friendly and helpful and the lady in the gift shop is a true gem and made us love Sloss even more. You can do a self-guided tour, they have metal artists working on site that you can watch create, there are an abundance of classes for kids or adults & an art gallery where you can purchase metal artworks. Wear comfy shoes. The place is frickin cool!

I visit is the unique site while I was in Birmingham. Unfortunately I got there when they were about to close I had 30 minutes to go through the site. There's a lot of history here I recommend watching the movie before you walk through the place. I hear they also do haunted tours during Halloween season. Next time I come back, I will have to bring my camera and ensure that I get there so I have a lot of time to go through the property. It was interesting seeing all of the things there and stuff that was made.

A beautiful place to go get scared. Enjoyed the haunted trail and furnace. We were parked quickly, and employees made finding navigating the property relatively easy. Only suggestion: improved lighting around property, both in parking and entertainment areas.

Such a fun adventure for all ages! Definitely a must if you're visiting the Birmingham area. The visitor's center is nice and clean, free admission, fun gift shop, and some great Birmingham history. They also have fun community activities and holiday events.

This is an amazing self guided stop in time. The facility is massive, awesome, I believe parts are wheelchair accessible, others are not. It is full of nooks and crannies, and the sheer size of this will leave you breathless. The staff in the welcome center are very helpful and nice. I had no idea that this plant and business was so relevant to the founding/growth of Birmingham.

Red clay tours took us here as part of our tour of Birmingham. Clay did an excellent job explaining Slows Furnaces as well as the Railroad park, Negro baseball museum, civil rights sights. I found everything very interesting.

Went to Sloss fest for the second year. Had such an awesome time. Not only for the music but Sloss has such a rich history and you see it all around you there. They do this amazing iron pouring "show" and tell you all about how it's done and what everything is. Planning a trip there with the kids on a regular weekday. Can't wait.

It's free! When you get there, you can get a brochure that walks you through a self-guided tour. Some areas were roped off even though the brochure told you to go into them, which wasn't ideal, but overall, this was a unique, interesting, and free experience. One of my favorite things I did in Birmingham. Great spot for pictures.
Also, there were plenty of people around on a Saturday, so it wasn't excessively creepy.response / report this review -

I wasn't sure what to expect here, especially since we only had time for the self-guided tour. I'm pleased to say we enjoyed our time here and am so glad we got to visit. There is a lot you can't climb, but there's still plenty to see. Fun place for adults, kids, and photographers! Make sure you take cash for the gift shop!

SO MUCH FUN! We were here during Halloween for the "Fright Furnace," and we really enjoyed it this time. The wait was long (about 1½ hrs), but we didn't mind it. The outdoor spook trail was lots of fun as well. If you're looking for a scary thing to do during Halloween, def go here. They put a lot of time into it. Sloss is also a cool destination to go to as a museum or for education. It's really neat to see how the furnaces operated during their time. ✔️

Fun place to see history! They have a nice shirt movie to begin the tour, which gives a great overview and tons of information! The self guided tour has a lot to take in. Clean museum facility. Nice staff.
