Excellent park with miles and miles of hiking and biking trails. Road bikes ride along the park road on a bike lane while mountain bikes have a choice of a wide variety of terrain and difficulty. There is archery, an 18 hole golf course and BMX Tracks as well. Campground needs some renovating, especially the bathrooms though.
The best overall park if all time happens to be the one right next to where I love. Hiking trails, biking, grilling sights, pedalling, golf, bird rehab. So far it's been maintained beyond well.
However, enterance price rose from $2 to $5 after the national parks fell down to the states' responsibility
My family and I love Oak Mountain. We have stayed here 5 times now. The cabins aren't fancy but they are big and spacious and have full kitchens. The view is amazing and there is always a lot to do.
We used the Dogwood Pavilion for our family get-together. The restroom was clean and right across the street, the scenery was amazing and the kids loved the playground that was in walking distance. We will definitely be back in the spring.
Beautiful park with lots to do. They offer rentals for pedal boats and kayaks at the lake within the park. Just keep in mind that the $5 entrance fee can only be paid with cash.
One of our favorite places to spend a day, a weekend, or a week. The staff is incredibly helpful, the facilities are top notch, and the camping is wonderful. Our kids love the BMX track, which is unique to this park. We can't recommend it enough.
Always love this park. It's just an all around great family park Hopefully, the passing of the amendment for the state parks will go to help this one Bathhouses could use some renovations, but other than that it was great as always.
This is one of the best state parks I've been to due to the excess of available activities. Google them. Too many great things to do here to try to list them!
Great place to visit with your family! I've been going here since I was 7 or 8 and I'm 40 now! We take our children and they love it as much as I did growing up!
I really enjoy going there to fish and hike. One of the best places to see beauty of Alabama and Birmingham. It's an overall clean park and a great place to enjoy the outdoors.
This park is s natural beauty it deserved 4 1/2 stars. The view from the small lake in the campground is gorgeous. The park for the most part is well maintained. The park staff is friendly. I am rating the maintenance of the campground 2 stars. The bath house has one shower and is the most rundown and dirtiest facility I have seen in many years of camping. It looks as if it has not been remodeled since the 70's. The campsites have fire ants, litter and chunks of crumbling blacktop. The picnic tables are rotted or grotesquely warped.
One of the best state parks in Alabama. We went for a car show and loved the park. Over the years I've been a few times and it is always beautiful
Oak Mountain is a diamond in the rough. It's a nice little tucked away wilderness where everything around is populated madness.
Perfect for a day or even a weekend away from home.
Inexpensive options that offer day long enjoyment of the outdoors.
