  This incredible natural site has a mix of sandy dune shores and verdant green forest landscape. Visitors can enjoy the steep sandy dune climb and walk to the shore, take scenic drive around the area, or get lost during a hike in the woods. Absolute must-dos are the dune climb, a sand covered hill that leads to the shores of the great lake and offers great views, and the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive which circles the area. Nearby are several beaches for enjoyment of the shores of the lake as well.

  I love this place, spent many summers growing up on these dunes. Great adventures for sure. It can be a hike, be sure to know what you're getting into before you commit to it. Lake Michigan is the best water on earth.

  This place is crazy. I didn't get a chance to hit the bottom because of my little one but sure looked like an adventure. Didn't feel like I was in Michigan for sure. Beautiful. Take the time to stop and see.

  It is beautiful but if you have small children or elderly people in your group it is not the place for you. The hike and I mean HIKE is 3.5 miles up hill both ways!!! NO JOKE. It is difficult for people that are in shape let alone the everyday person. Please be aware of this when walking the dunes. Do not believe when other folks say that you are almost there, because you are NOT!

  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But, I can't believe that many people would think that Sleeping Bear Dunes is the most beautiful place in America if they had ever been anywhere else. I bet there are a few million people who could name several dozen other places which they think are more beautiful.

  What a beautiful place! The Lake is huge (and I mean incredibly so) and crystal clear, and the sand is golden soft. Every ranger we met was passionate and friendly, and directed us to the loveliest spots. When you come (and you must come) you have to drive the long, woodsy back road to Peterson Road Beach. You'll think you're lost, but then you'll arrive at this tiny parking lot, and you'll hear the waves. Then, you walk with magical boardwalk, surrounded by vast grasses and tall trees in the distance. And the you'll arrive at the beach. Breathtaking. Most people stayed for the stars at night--and stars there are. Also. the Lake Michigan Overlook is an emotional experience.

  This area on the northeast corner of Lake Michigan is breathtakingly beautiful, largely unspoiled, restful and inspiring. The size of the sand dunes needs to be seen to be believed and even then, they are much bigger once you start climbing them! It is possible to get a campsite nestled among fir trees within a minute's walk to the lake, with the sound of waves lapping gently all night. This is truly a region to savor over and over.

  Always a lot of fun when visiting the dunes. Be prepared if you go on the dune climb and its trails. Walking uphill in sand is a real pain in the butt, but the view on top is fantastic. Loved every second at this park. Can't wait to go back.
