This will be our fourth year and planning to go again. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Even had a mixup with campsites but they found us another one.
Nice place. Campsites are spacious and well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. There is a little shop, but don't expect food or many supplies. Make sure you bring the supplies and food you need. I had my own kayaks, others in our group rented some. The rentals were a little older but well maintained. They loaded my personal kayak and gear along with the rentals and took us all to the drop off point. They did charge a fee to take my personal kayak. We chose to do the 65 River mile trip over a period of three days. We spent about 5 hours on the water all three days keeping a decent pace. Beautiful area, and abundant wildlife. If you do overnight trips, be prepared. Make sure everything is waterproof. If you're in a kayak your going to get wet. All in all, it was a blast, will definitely be making it a yearly trip!
Great place, lots of fun. Had a wonderful time on a canoe trip with some friends. The campsites are massive with plenty of amenities (fire pit, several bench tables per site, pavilion per site, plenty of flat areas for tent, softer ground for tent stakes). Price is right. Only trouble is (my own opinion, rustic after all) no modern restroom or shower at the camp nor in town.
Go, you'll have a great time!
Great place to camp either wooded or right next to the river. Great staff, very accommodating. Canoe, kayak, raft and tube rentals with day or overnight trips. Shitters kept good n clean. Remember to lock your food up or it will be gone by morning. Neighboring campers found out the hard way. You can hear the highway but it's quite tolerable and if your with a group you probably won't hear it.
Been coming here since I was a kid a long time ago. Family business. Very well run. They have everything you will need, and they're very accommodating.
We had a great time! The guy driving our van was really friendly. The rates were low and the area looked like a fun place to camp. We will be back! The only issue was parking but it was really not much of a problem.
Lots of space to camp with friendly staff.
Super friendly no frills camping. Great canoe livery.
We have been going to Chippewa landing and campground for the past 5 years now. You can't beat this place for a great party and camping fun. Huge areas for a lot of guest. When we leave we always reserve our spot for the following year. Love the owners and workers , they haven't let me drown yet! Thanks for the best times ever. John and Marge Rivera (next year's chief staff)
We wish to give a special thanks to the office staff and Tony and Kelli . Although our stay wasn't long they all worked hard to meet our needs . Oak Grove Campground is not loaded with frills it is a very friendly place to camp .
Keith and Jen ... site #40
I go up to Chippewa at least once per year -- always have a blast. The staff is extremely accommodating and helpful. The campground is also excellent -- some huge spots for big groups, and despite being privately owned, they keep it clean. Most important part is the river of course, which is a beautiful stretch of the Manistee.
