In the middle of autumn, the rolling hills are transformed into a plush carpet of soft yellows, browns and orange. It’s an enlightening experience to take a stroll through the park and watch deer and hare scatter in front of you or eagle soar above. Short drive from downtown Denver which made it the easiest to access if you’re limited for time.

What a great place to hike! There are both easy strolling and moderate effort trails amid outstanding red Rock formations. The main trails are wide and hard packed dirt. Off shoot smaller trails to special lookouts are much narrower and steep. You do get a workout as the main trails are not flat, but the inclinations are gentle and you are not struggling as you head uphill or down. The visitor center is well stocked with hiking books and pamphlets, and there is a 14 minute video presentation that's worth watching. Parking lot is generous. Visitor center staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

Walking amidst slanting red rocks in a rugged terrain at around sunset - pure bliss. There are some really nice trails, well demarcated. In case you're a slouch, there's one overlook as well within 0.5 miles from where one could see a series of red rocks in pattern.

Great park! Fantastic hike for low elevation/impact. You could bring a jogging stroller. The view reminds me of garden of the gods plus a view of downtown. There is a ranger station/gift shop with interactive kid stations. We will definitely go again!

Had an awesome hike! It's winter time now and it was still a beautiful time. Plenty of knowledgeable people and friendly volunteers at the park. They let us take a laminated guide so we knew information about every stop on the hike. The red rocks are beautiful. If you're looking for a simple and easy hike this is the place to go. Unfortunately you cannot bring your four legged friends but that is for preservation reasons. All in all a great experience and a beautiful landscape!

I had a great time here! I came on a Thursday and it wasn't busy at all. I got to see beautiful sights and took some amazing photos. I even got to see two mule deer. In addition to the beautiful sights, it is incredibly quiet in the park. It's a nice change of pace from the city. I'll definitely come back to try the other trails.

The park was clean and beautiful. The only bad thing I can say is that the website said they were open until 9pm but at the gate, we were told we only had 30 minutes and had to be back at our cars by 6:30. Other than that, the views were great for sunset and the red rocks were amazing. I wish we could have stayed longer! It costs 7$ to for a day pass to enter the park.

The park isn't that well known. Not even for the locals. It sits just against the foothills near Southwest of Denver. For a breathtaking hogback formation views, this park offers some nice views. There are a few hiking trails within the park. An easy trail can be done in less than an hour including all the sightseeing. Difficult trails can take hours.

For the little ones, there is a small visitors center which provides tons of educational material. It's an excellent place for a family or a newcomer to visit.

The red rocks mixed with the green are stunning. I liked the hike trails and how close they are to each other. Falcons, a gold eagle and red tail hawks are likely to be flying around. I loved seeing a falcon flying. The facilities were in a good condition. The missing star is because the bathrooms were closed!

Truly a hidden gem. Tucked away behind the reservoir, this state park offer great hiking with spectacular views of Denver and the eastern plains as well as some breathtaking geological formations. A must-see for anyone in the Denver area

Perfect for day hikes out of Denver! They have several trails, all varying in length and difficulty and the rock formations are really stunning (especially when they're covered in snow)! If you end up doing the Carpenter's Peak trail, be sure to wear long pants! There's a lot of foliage that closes in on the trail during the summer months.

Wonderful park and hiking spot. Although it can get a bit crowded and they have limited parking so get their early on the weekends. South Rim is an easier trail with fantastic views. For a more difficult trail I recommend the Carpenter Peak trail.

What a beautiful way to spend my last day in Colorado!! We'd stayed the night before in Colorado Springs and drove up to the Denver Airport. This was the perfect place to stop on the way! Although the google maps tried to take us the to golf club, the man at the gate let us turn around and pointed us in the right direction.

You pay $7 for a sticker to put in your car window so you can park for the day. Be careful! This sticker REALLY sticks and didn't want to come off in one piece.

After paying for our parking, we looked at a map with someone working the desk. We told him that we wanted to do a hike that would take about 2 hours. And since we'd never visited before, we wanted the trail to be one of the prettier/more interesting ones. He suggested a couple options, but definitely recommended the Fountain Trail. It was just what we were looking for! It was mostly flat and very open - the trail was wide and mostly covered with gravel. And the views were beautiful! We passed others on the trail, but it wasn't crowded by any means.

Beautiful views! You can't find this scenery any where else. Family friendly. Easy trail to take a jeep or 3 wheel stroller. Friendly staff as well. Small gift shop with lots of fun items too. Probably one of my favorite places in Colorado to visit. Wildlife views are breathtaking!
