Isolated getaway tucked in an extremely picturesque valley and 14ers on 3 sides. Many hiking trails and peaks to climb.

Fun place to camp, but it gets super crowded in the Summer. Plan ahead and get here early or you won't even be able to find a place to park.

Best to come up in late Fall to avoid the crowds, or better yet, get over 14ers already. So much more in Colorado to explore than crowded alpine summits.

We had been camping there since 2002.but the owner of the property decided to no longer allow people to camp there back in 2011 I think. It used to be so awesome. THE most quiet place on earth, and more beauty than you could handle. You can still access the trails, and last time we were there, there was still a Forest Service pit toilet at the trailhead, so there's that. But don't expect to camp IN the actual campground. Most years, it's not accessible to vehicles any more. People DO drive as close to the trailhead as they can get, and then camp on the side of the road. I know it's not legal, but that's what we had to do last time, and it's all rocky, and nothing is flat. It's a trade-off, but we chose mountain life, and we're used to things not being easy. People also still backpack in to the old camping area, but you could get busted big-time, because it's trespassing. Screw that guy. We never did any damage to that place, and never saw anyone else damage it either. People who are willing to go THAT far into the wilderness DON'T tolerate others who will do harm to it.
It's hard to give it any stars, because it's closed.

Great secluded camp ground, if camping above tree line is your thing. No trees for shade during the day, and COLD at night, otherwise a pretty nice place. Plus, its at the trailhead!
