A great family experience at a reasonable price. Mine visits and panning for gold can be added to the train rides and the docents provide some great insights. The train ride can't be compared to the one from Durango to Silverton in terms of scenery but it's also a lot easier to fit in a busy traveling schedule!

We had an absolutely fantastic experience as a family. Loved every minute of it. 4 stars vs 5 because they aren't more upfront about the fact that they don't run steam in the winter. Everyone we dealt with was extraordinarily helpful. Kids had a blast with Santa.

This short day trip was a great addition to the family gathering holiday. It's fun to be out there in the sun when it's sunny, but I bet can get pretty cold on a cloudy day. The train ride is mostly on open aired cars. You can choose your trip, get off at stations, but enjoy the ride the whole time. It's definitely a family friendly place, there is no smoking at all on the premises.

The tour was very entertaining and educational and the train ride was beautiful and relaxing. Definitely a hidden little gem worth checking out when you are in the Denver area. Great for all ages! Worth splurging for the mine tour

Great thing to bring your kids to all different types of options and you can even get a drink. Recommend during the seasons of what you enjoy the most. Like if you are into the leaves changing check it out during the fall. They also have a winter train that sounds cozy.

My only wish is that the ride were longer. Otherwise, it was a fantastic time. Protip: talk to the guys in costume - they're full of fun tips.

Oh, and bring a jacket. Even on a warmer day, at elevation it can be cooler going from Georgetown to Silver Plum and back.

fun. They try to make you buy the photo they take of you before you get on the train. They do not tell you they make a few stops at different stations. If you have little kids, these stops seem like foreverit can be tricky keeping them entertained. But it was scenic and fun to be riding a train through the mountain!

Awesome place to visit. Well worth taking the longest tour. The staff are very knowledgeable about the whole place. The train ride was excellent also.

It was a beautiful trip between Georgetown and Silver Plume on an old steam engine. The mine tours are an added must. They had cheesy old Western actors walking around getting into trouble with the local "sheriff". Parking was a mess, so get there early.

It is an old steam train that goes up and down a mountain. But it does an amazing 360 degree loop, which is cool.

A relatively short ride on a train pulled by an actual steam engine (at least ours was; some may not be).

The views are nice, but not spectacular. If you've got a big train fan, I'm sure this is a place you can't miss, but for older kids and adults it isn't that amazing.

The best part is really the talk about the history of Colorado given by the guide. It gives you a glimpse into what life was like a hundred years ago, since this railroad formerly ran all the way into Denver.
