The rooms are very spacious, the bed is comfortable, the staff is accommodating and friendly. The breakfast in the morning has a lot to offer and there is several utensils, etc in the rooms so you can cook for yourself. Downsides are cheap toilet paper, 2 tiny trash cans and white linens on the bed.
If your are working in HB, then this is a great place to stay. The breakfast is diverse, and filling. Also the rooms are clean and comfortable.
I was in town for a 6 nights for business and brought my family (husband, mother and aunt along). The four of us shared a two-bedroom/two-bathroom suite on the bottom floor.
Pros:
- The location is good; not only was it close to the office I was working in, it's close to the airport, has easy access to the freeway and is close to lots of food options and gas stations and not too far from beaches.
- The suite has a full kitchen.
- The front desk check-in process was easy.
- Any staff we encountered were friendly.
Areas of Opportunity:
- The breakfast was okay - standard hotel breakfast fare (waffles, boiled eggs, etc.), but there was no bacon and no potatoes.
- Parking costs $7/day, but that seems to be average for that area.
- The biggest area of opportunity is the room needs some major updates: The furniture is worn and has frayed corners; the desk chair was not comfortable to sit in for longer than 5 minutes; the walls and ceilings need fresh coats of paint; the carpet was worn, needed replacing and felt very icky - normally I am okay with wearing thick socks or shoes inside hotel rooms (never barefoot), but there I would only wear shoes after I felt the ickiness. You can see where there have been some updates (the tiling in the shower, the vanity in the bathroom, etc.), but it looks like they started and didn't continue. Also, we were close to the basketball court, which was right by our bedroom window; so, people playing basketball at 7am woke us up on the Saturday morning.
- The pillows were not that comfortable.
- The rooms could use ceiling fans.
- It also felt odd that the full-length mirror was directly across from the toilet. It's a small thing, but it seems like there could be a better place for it.
- The Internet was not the greatest, particularly when using it for an extended period of time. It dropped periodically and randomly. There was only wireless and no LAN cable (one at the desk would have been nice).
- It would also be nice to have a printer onsite (even if there's a fee).
Overall:
It was okay. I chose this hotel because it has 2-bedroom/2-bathroom suites, which I wanted for the 4 of us traveling together. If I had that situation again, I would choose this hotel again because again it wasn't terrible. However, if I had a situation where I did not need a 2-bedroom/2-bathroom suite, I would definitely choose another Marriott property in the area.
The hotel was decent, could use some updating. Room appeared clean. Bistro in lobby was great for breakfast. Freeway close and lots of options nearby. Have stayed multiple times for work. Would return.
Beautiful rooms with a quiet atmosphere. Helped with the needs of our group quickly. Good communication from the management staff before and during our stay.Nice hot breakfast with a variety of options. Outdoor pool, hot tub, basketball court, sitting area and barbecue.
Located in a nice area, they looked like apartments. The room was very nice, they had Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner, everything was in good condition. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely stay again!
My stay was amazing. The rooms were clean. I have 2 dogs that loved there. They have an area for dogs, which was amazing. It was really close to the beach. The breakfast that they have in the morning is really good
Great experience. Let us check in early. Extremely comfortable beds
This is located right off the 405. The staff is very friendly and makes it easy to ask questions, which really makes a difference. The grounds are kept in great condition and the inner courtyard had great places to unwind. The pool area is monitored so clean towels don't run out and used towels are picked up. Rooms are accessed directly from outside, so you don't have to go through a lobby or halls giving it a residence-type feeling. One window in the room opened, which is greatly missed in some hotels as it's always nice to have fresh air. I selected this hotel for the kitchen, even though I personally had to pay the difference between what my company allows and what it actually was. Staying there for almost three weeks, I thought it necessary to have a full size refrigerator/freezer and microwave. I didn't really use the stove, but it was nice when I did and having the option to cook made the stay less stressful. And there's a functioning fireplace. The Wi-Fi would sometimes become spotty in the evening and the tv channel selection was small, which is normal for most hotels. Parking seemed to be an issue at night, though I didn't experience this personally but did see some cars have to park next to the storage unit sitting in parking spots.
Great place to stay. Only downside of why I am giving 3 stars is the fact that once we were in our room there was tons of fruit flies. Couldn't get rid of them all.
Always get the Penthouse cause we love the small kitchen the spacious beds and extra sofa bed. Good for family outings. Just for local getaway its a nice place to stay.
Love residence Inn. Spacious rooms with all you need to make you feel comfortable while away from home. Thanks to the kitchen in the rooms, you don't have to worry about going out to eat or order delivery every night. Comfortable beds.
