We recently stayed at the Palmer Home the night of our wedding and we're pleased with the accommodations. The staff was friendly and professional, and went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable. The King Room was large and well decorated; we enjoyed the Charlestonian decor! Breakfast was included in the stay, but we had early morning plans and did not partake. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, perfect for our wedding night, and we'd easily recommend the Palmer Home to others looking for a scenic stay on the gorgeous Battery!

Beware-Palmer Home has two listings on Yelp. The house is a cool old place that has sadly fallen into disrepair. From the outside it looks cool, mostly because its pink and has the cool piazza and sits right on the battery. Unfortunately, the interior needs some love to be as impressive as it once was and could be again.
Just checking in was a challenge since there are no clear instructions and no one to greet guests at the entrance-- luckily we ran into some other guests who pointed us up a stairway to check in. First and foremost we had a damage waiver presented to us to sign. A bit odd based on our previous experiences. The people greeting us at check in and check out could not answer simple questions about the history of the house and really did not seem interested in conversing with us at all. The elusive proprietor never spoke to us, but we did get a wave as she drove by one morning.
Angela's breakfasts were grits, scrambled eggs and bacon with coffee, water or juice. Good enough-not great. Angela was really nice but we only saw her for breakfast.
The room was big with access to a really cool piazza. The view from the piazza is without compare.
The A/C in our room shut down the second day and would flip the reset if we used it for more than a fan. The lighting in our bathroom was a laugh. There was one sconce by the door- which would dim after being on for 2 minutes.
Our experience with B&B's previously has been that they are big on a personal touch and great service. If that's what you are expecting for your over $300/night room, you might not find that here.response / report this review -

Had an amazing time here! We stayed in the carriage house and it was beautiful. The beds are placed right by the windows, so waking up to the sunrise over the ocean was just breathtaking. Sitting on the rocking chairs that overlook the ocean and beautiful streets was a usual for us in the evenings while we had complimentary while. An overall beautiful house, and the staff was all so nice and always made sure we had all we needed. Would definitely recommend the Palmer House as a place to stay!

I stayed in the Palmer House for two nights and had an amazing experience. Waking up in the morning to the sunrise, with the pier as the front view was incredible. In the evening time, I would have a complimentary glass of wine and sit on the rocking chairs on the balcony watching the sunset. The staff was friendly and the service provided was outstanding. Highly recommend, such an experience is not one to forget.

This is real Charleston. all antiques, beautiful grand rooms, bedrooms(I saw two) are very large, much bigger than any hotel room. Very clean, I checked every where. The best part was the amazing view! Very nice breakfast sitting on the porch overlooking the harbor. I priced other properties, this was the best. I wiil be back. Could not stay anywhere else.
