This really should be a negative star! I am from NJ and really feel sorry that this is the only hospital that Owensboro has. My mother died in this hospital, I called the morning that passed away and spoke to Gladys in ICU and asked her how my mother did during the night and she said that her heart rate was up but they got it controlled and she helped her to the bathroom. No mention that her cardiologist was there st 2:00 in morning with this. She said she was stable.

The 7:00 shift came in and nurse Seth said that family should be called because my mother was actively dying. Thank god for him. The family in Owensboro was able to be around her but brother and I did not make it time. Seth, run away from that hospital! It seems you are to good for this place.

I am angry that I could not say a final good bye to my mother and by the lack of knowledge that this nurse had. She could have called one of her kids during the night, 2 emergency phone numbers were on her board and everyone was told to call day or night.

I called patient relations on March 30th and said they would investigate and still have not heard a thing.

    Please run from this hospital!

The security guards on night shift are awful and very rude!! They are taking their precious time and my sister needs stitches. I won’t be bringing her back here ever again! I wouldn’t recommended this hospital to a fly! They deserve no stars! The security guard that is suppose to be “watching” over my sister is currently asleep. I have a photo just not sure how to upload it onto this comment.

When Owensboro Regional Hospital decides to fire their employees they give no real and logical reasons for firing them. You can have Scarlet Fever and if they feel that you've violated their attendance policy not even the diagnosis from your Doctor from the same system is enough to keep you from being fired. So don't get sick.

Also if patients file false complaints against you to them you might as well be guilty, because they don't have to have proof. They will fire you for another reason entirely to keep from having to try to prove if you actually did wrong or not.

If they treat their patients like they treat their employees then I would not recommend trusting them. Normally I would expect this kind of treatment from Wal-Mart but not a "legitimate" hospital. It's just plain pathetic.

New Post: Looks like the rehabilitation section of the hospital is at it again. Heard from someone that works there that management is attempting to fire people under false pretenses again. It's very sad to see a place that's supposed to be a reputable place for patients and employees is really wanting to make a bad name for itself. Maybe they'll push around the wrong person eventually get put in their place finally. Just makes me very angry to see this happen to good people.

Can't give you no stars. Was treated rudely by security guard this morning. When did it become not unacceptable to sleep at a hospital? Guess it's better I fall asleep at the wheel and kill someone? Unbelievable! What was it hurting for me to park there and get a couple of hours sleep? There are a million parking spaces, I wasn't hurting anyone . . .

I can’t believe this hospital hasn’t been shut down yet. Last night I had to beg the ER doctor to order a cat scan. She told me since the feeling has returned in my leg I should just go home at which point I refused. The cat scan came back and showed a herniated disc, a bulging disc and the damage it had done to my spine in that area, the disk narrowed my spine. She gives me a steroid sends me on my way. I end up back in the ER again tonight and tears. I’ve been dealing with “sciatica” for TWO years and no medical professional in this town knows how to treat it or believes it’s real. I beg for a cat scan which shows I have physically deformations and the lady ask me why I’m back??? Trust me I didn’t want to show up at 3 am when I was there five hours the night before and got nothing accomplished.

My mom went to the ER last year thinking she was having a heart attack and they told her it was acid reflux and sent her home. My mom went to her doctor (Dodie Kirkendoll who is amazing— good doctors are few and far between in this town) the next day and was immediately diagnosed with shingles.

My dad has had cancer 4 times in the past 8 years. The last THREE procedures his doctor did in Owensboro he did them WRONG. Vanderbilt begged my dues to sue his doctor here just so he wouldn’t be allowed to practice anymore. The doctor put the piece of equipment in my dad wrong TWICE. As in TWO different procedures!!!

I ended up walking out of the ER tonight when I realized it was he same PA on call. The receptionist and techs are rude in the ER at night. The employees are incompetent across the board. Due to my insurance I have to stay in the state of Kentucky to be treated. I will be driving to Lexington tomorrow.

Do not go here if you need so much as a band aid.

I went to the ER because I was urinating blood and in horrible pain. My urine looked like cherry cola. Drove myself to the ER at 3 AM and got there. They ran the tests on me, and even though my urine was the color of cherry cola they said they didn't see anything and sent me home with some worthless medicine that did NOTHING for the pain.

2 days later, the same thing happens again. I drove myself to the ER in horrible pain and they run the same tests again. Oh, this time a different doctor finds a 4mm stone in my tract. Tells me it will probably pass and prescribed me hydrocodone for the pain. Tells me other smallers ones may pass again and to take medicine for pain.

If the first doctor would have done that, it would have saved me the trip. But no, I get a $1,200.00 dollar bill for each visit. This was in 2015. I paid the second bill, and I refuse to pay the first. I took the small 20 point hit on my credit and now don't care. It falls off in 5 more years. Bill collectors don't even bother calling me anymore.

This hospital sucks. I also went in for a chest exam due to acid reflux. Was told my insurance covered it. It didn't. They sent me an $800.00 bill. Idiots.

2nd time in 4 years they have told my wife with cancer there is nothing they can do. Please take your loved onea to Vanderbilt or elsewhere for cancer. The oncologist and neurologist are a joke and you can tell by their attitude they don't care. Vanderbilt has got her back on her feet both times including this time. They also question owensboros methods. Wouldn't recommend for any type of service. Please for your family if you go here - get a 2nd opinion elsewhere.

I am so disappointed to find out that this hospital will allow doctors that will not treat a patient if they are a VA patient. My dad was admitted over the weekend with pneumonia in both lungs. He was needing to see a GI doctor and was told that he wouldn't see him because he was being seen at the VA. How do you treat your Veterans that way. So since there is nothing more that can be done at this hospital they are sending him home and to contact the VA. Now if something happens and he gets worse he will have to travel to the VA in Louisville.

Had to take my wife to their emergency room several times this year. Nurse at the front desk didn't have the number for their own 24 hour hotline, the doctor I spoke with in the waiting room spoke to me with such condescension and contempt, like our conversation was a waste of her valuable time. Not to mention that out of the several ER visits we made, my wife's insurance information wasn't forwarded to the company responsible for the ER services one single time, so we kept getting billing notices saying we were severely behind on payments. The nurses in the ER (with a few exceptions) are unprofessional or pretty unskilled (asking me to grab medical supplies out of cabinets for them while I'm trying to console my wife - and they can't find a vein to save their lives). Whoever runs this place either needs to be replaced or needs to retrain or replace half the staff in their ER department. I hope no one's lives depend on some of the people in this place or you might be better off taking a Tylenol and hoping for the best.
