This place is great it's quaint cozy and spotless has a wonderful view of the beach from the room and you can see the marsh from the back of the property it's beautiful an inexpensive I definitely would come back again
We booked an ocean view room (only those at the front of the building, on the second floor, face the ocean across the road). Note: no elevators, only stairs, to reach the second floor. If you cannot use stairs, keep this in mind. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. It is an older hotel, and a bit tired around the edges. We had difficulty with the a/c, in that it was too cold when running, and too warm when not. There was no happy medium, even with the thermostat. So either keep it on all the time and freeze, or set it warmer and feel hot when it shuts off. The balcony was nice, and you hear the waves. Be prepared for road traffic passing by, however. Breakfast was minimal. I've never seen slices of white bread wrapped in cellophane. Bagels were mini, and the fruit was the smallest I had ever seen. Coffee was all right. Dining area very tight. We thought about staying a second night, but decided not to mostly because we slept poorly, being hot and cold.
After a popular travel site who I will not name but the EX does not mean excellent messed up our dates the inn was very understanding and went above and beyond to accommodate us. Room was immaculate staff was exceptional and we would and will recommend this great place to everyone . Did I mention the nice breakfast included? Very affordable and we'll worth the fee.
We stayed here 2 days on our way to Daytona and loved it. Staff wad great. Basically we had the beach to ourselves. Nice private walkway over to beach. Rooms were good. Free breakfast the kids lived to make there own waffles. We will definitely go back.
Stayed here on our first visit to Saint Augustine at the end of June to celebrate our 21st anniversary. We wanted a "home base" where we could walk the beach and watch the sunrise every morning before we started the day exploring all Saint Augustine has to offer and then also a place to hop in the pool at the end of the day and walk the beach in the evenings. This was absolutely perfect! The beach is right across the street and we spent much of our time on it alone or with just a couple other people. Very private! The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the price was right! We would definitely stay here again.
Great place directly across from private beach. 10 min. Drive into St. Augustine old town. Friendly helpful staff. Desk is manned 24 hours. Decent continental breakfast. Have the waffles..you won't regret it!
Ocean Sands is an owner operator hotel just north of St. Augustine on A1a. This place seemed to go out of their way to make us comfortable and well vacationed. They have their own beach access across the road so the beach is not crowded. Rooms were clean and even though we showed up early they let us park and use the beach while we waited for our room to be ready. All rooms have a patio or a balcony.
Staff was so friendly and helpful. Pool was small but very nice! Beach access was perfect. Breakfast was yummy and the coffee was spot on! Location was wonderful especially for some quiet time on the balcony. I wouldn't have booked our stay here if it wasn't for the reviews so that's why I'm giving it 5 stars! Will definitely book here in the future.sooner than later!
If you're coming for a nice, relaxing weekend on the beach this is the place for you! My party of 3 booked Easter night to come enjoy the beach and we weren't disappointed. We got an ocean side room to watch the sunrise, which was amazing ♡ They had a modest, but nice breakfast selection where I got to make some delicious waffles. They even have beach chairs/umbrellas/etc. for guests to borrow/return for free use! The room itself was very clean, all the staff were helpful and friendly (offered maps and coupons for local attractions!), and overall 5/5 would stay again :)
We had put in a reservation over the phone back in November for a 3 night stay and we specifically asked for a balcony that overlooked the ocean so our 3 and 4 year old could see the ocean. The staff member told me that we were all set to go and confirmed that we were going to be staying in a room that overlook the beach, which is why we reserved so far in advance. The day of arrival, we were put on the first floor with an outside concrete patio right next to the highway with nothing but cigarette butts, trash, and broken glass. We immediately addressed it with the staff and he said "well it is ocean side" and that is what we told you. We could tell that they were not concerned with making any adjustments for us nor were they going to be accountable for their mistake putting us on the first floor. The hotel was specifically reserved for an entire wedding party traveling far to attend the wedding right down the street. When we called to reserve the staff told us that their pool area didn't close which was one of the reasons we went with this location. During our celebration the night before the wedding, the wedding party and guests were hanging out in the pool area because that is the only place with chairs, no one was actually in the pool though then the staff had stated that they had received some complaints about noise, so we turned of our music and there we no more complaints, we cleaned up the area to include all trash and put all the pool furniture back in it's place. The staff seemed to understand and didn't indicate that there were any concerns. On the following day, the staff literally went out of there way to post new signs indicating that the pool area closed at 7PM and went as far as putting a lock on the entrance. The group respected their new and all of the sudden policies, but for the purposes of the bride and groom's specific requests month in advance, the costs, and the only pool to close at 7PM within the next 2 miles, we were very disappointed and it felt as if they would consider any compromise. This is the last thing a bride should have to worry about on her day to include the families who are responsible for the financial aspect.
