I’ve used NO ONE but NW Vet since 1987 and have always had the best results!

If you care for your animals don't even bother calling these people more than likely thay blow you off anyways and tell you to go someplace else , they don't care about your animal and they just want to make a quick buck.

I've taken my puppy here since I got him at 8 weeks. He had symptoms of a stroke when my boyfriend and I were at work, and when we came home and saw him, we were horrified. He was covered in his own vomit and he had diarrhea. And the stroke took a tole on his facial features - his eyes and mouth were droopy. He acted like he was terrified and like he couldn't really see us. His legs were stiff,  he was slightly hunched to one side and he couldn't control his bladder. He kept having seizure after seizure while my mother was trying to get in touch with a vet with an emergency number, since it was after 7 PM.

We brought our pup in to North Whidbey Vet Hospital because they were the only ones that answered. Haji was restless the whole ride, from and during the emergency visit. I had to hold onto him to make sure he didn't fall off of the examination table. First thing I noticed about the head vet was his choice of grammar. I wasn't too thrilled to hear him call my sick puppy a "fart," "ugly," and say "he is so cute it's disgusting" after he had gone through a stroke and seizures, so his face showed exactly that. I also didn't appreciate the curse words he chose to say at random, or that he kept the thermometer in him for a good couple of minutes, when it shouldn't even take a minute (he had a fever of 102.8). After inspecting him, the vet said that he looks fine, that his abdomen feels normal, that I shouldn't be so upset and that he isn't dehydrated. My puppy had puked a lot earlier and his gums and eyes showed it - not to mention how he'd try to keep water down, but couldn't because his mouth became paralyzed from the stroke. Although the vet said he wasn't dehydrated, he gave him fluids (for no longer than a couple minutes), and shots to help keep him from puking. Then his advice was this - give him a little bit of white rice and a little bit of water every half hour tomorrow. Tonight, don't give him anything! Take away his food and water. And once you notice he wants more, give him more rice and water, and gradually transition his regular food into the rice.  Once he is able to eat his regular food with the rice, give him half of an antibiotic (which he gave me 2). He didn't seem worried about Haji at all, despite of his irregular face and that we mentioned the seizures. So I asked the vet, "What do you think caused this?"

And he simply said, "He ate something he shouldn't had."

Which wasn't true, because there is no possibility of him getting anything he shouldn't have. He only eats what I give him and I always keep an eye on him. I told the vet this, and he was like, "Well I'm sure he has chewed on a twig before? Or grass?" Yes, he has, but twigs and grass do not cause full on strokes and seizures. So it ended with the vet saying to call the clinic in the morning if he pukes or if he doesn't eat, which will then lead him to taking X-rays, even though he thought it was unnecessary since he wasn't worried at all with everything we had to say. At the end of the appointment, which didn't last for more than 15 minutes, I owed over $200 ($150 for the emergency appointment), which I would've paid anything to help my puppy live and feel better.

Our puppy, who wasn't even 9 months old yet, didn't make it through the night. He had passed away at 3 AM that following morning. We tried contacting another vet, only for him to let us down too. At the end of all this, I believe that something could've been done to make it easier for my puppy in his last hours, but he had to endure the multiple seizures and strokes until he passed away that morning.

My now almost 10 year old Goldie had been seen by Heidi (mostly) since I got her at the age of 5 weeks; I left for 19 months to help my daughter while my son-in-law was on deployment and when I came back they were no longer taking "new clients". If you haven't been seen in a year you're now new. How rude and unprofessional can you get? Being that Heidi was the only one worth taking my baby to, I can't imagine them being so busy now they can no longer afford to take new (or previous) clients, but for whatever reason they have, let the chips fall where they may.

Without a doubt the best vet I have ever worked with in the entire time I've had pets. Dr. Mangiamelli not only saved my guinea pig and my mini-horse when she contracted collick, but any time we have had to sadly say goodbye to any of our pets they have been beyond caring and understanding and sensitive to how hard it can be on us as the owners to make that decision. The ladies who run the front desk are very friendly and a delight to talk to, making every visit pleasant from the get-go.

These people know what they're doing, I absolutely reccomend them above any other vet here on Whidbey Island.

I was not an established client, yet Dr Mangiameli met me at his office after hours to splint my black lab's broken leg. He was fantastic, down to earth, and the fees were very reasonable. Thanks for helping us through this tough time! Randy and Phoenix

My mom took her cat in today to be put to sleep. He is old, has cancer, and failing kidneys. This place has been caring for him for months. Removing the cancer and hydrating him. My mom called me this morning to let me know she had dropped him off for the last time and that she wasn't going to stay because it was too hard. I called the vet to find out what time they would be performing the procedure to see if I could come be with him. Say goodbye. The receptionist advised me that they don't normally have you there when they do it (?), and that the staff had all formed a very strong connection with him, so i shouldn't worry. While I am glad that in the MONTHS that they have been caring for him they have formed a connection, I found that response to be completely selfish and insensitive. We got the cat when I was 14. You think I don't have a connection with him? Maybe I wanted to be there for him. And to have a chance to say goodbye. But no. Apparently the staff's connection with a family's pet is more important than that of the family itself. I cried, left work, and ran home to snuggle my puppy and reassure him that I would never let him go through that alone when the time comes, and will never take him to a vet that thinks their bond with my animal is stronger or more important than my own.

BEWARE - I was at my in laws house for the evening & their puppy fell on the hardwood floor & broke every bone in her paw. It was 7pm on a Saturday so we didn't have alot of Veterinary choices as far as what was open. Puppy was crying, couldnt walk, and needed to be seen, so I went online to google some places and came across this one.

We called, spoke to a gentleman and he said he could be there ASAP so we drove there. $150 for the visit for him to basically say "I dont know what is wrong with her and we should wait to see if it gets better within a few days". They took her home, and she suffered in pain for 2 days. Monday morning, they called, and took her back in. That's when they did the X-Ray and found all the broken bones in her paw. They wrapped up her entire leg in a "cast". The cast was basically medical tape, wrapped tightly around her. It was done SO poorly. Her hand got so infected that she had to get rushed to another vet, and they could not believe how horrible this cast was.

She could have lost her leg! Not to mention they said that the level/kind of drugs they had given her was practically lethal for her size. Worst case of vet malpractice I have ever encountered.

The guy when we got there, didnt even seem like a licensed vet. He was wearing sweats & sweatpants and a beanie. Granted it was Saturday evening, but still.

It was a disaster inside. Messy, dirty - HORRIBLE. Biggest mistake!

Thank god we found care in time to save the puppies leg, and maybe even her life!

We are like the other reviewers, if there were a __ZERO STAR__ that would be our rating. Out dated run down facilty. Owner vets can/will be rude acting like your the problem. If your looking to pay higher prices for lack of quality care this is your place. In our experience this business owners believe in getting high prices for there products, and providing minimal/possibly out of date veterian care. We suggest/recommend looking around to find a better provider.
