I've stayed here several times, including over a year ago And shin very recently. The changes over time are very noticeable and very positive. The rooms are very clean and well maintained, the staff is very efficient and responsive to the customers and seem to be very genuine in their efforts to insure that all needs are met. The staff pearly are working as a team and appear to be happy in their work, which contributes significantly to the positive atmosphere. This is a budget motel, but the comfort, safety, cleanliness and service were great.
The on-site manager, tall, thin, professional guy really sets the standard for the team at this property. I've stayed in many Motel 6s and this gentleman works harder on professionalism and team building than any on-site manager I have seen.
Also, the housekeeping person named Trish cleaned and straightened my room so well I thought I had walked into a model room ready to be photographed for a catalog or website. Excellent work is being done at this property.
I do have two suggestions: 1) It's great that the Manager dispatches himself to a room immediately after giving the key to the guest in order to ensure that everything is just right. If the Manager were to put a "Be Back in 5 Minutes" sign up when he does that, the next guest wouldn't be wondering where everyone went. 2) When possible, place longer-staying guests further away from the highway on-ramp. If a person stays one night, they can tolerate the highway noise. I was there 9 - 10 days and would have preferred to be in a quieter location.
I stayed at this Motel 6 location twice in the past two weeks. The room I had the first time (151) was old and there were holes in the bedspread. The room I had the second time (211) was much more comfortable. I slept soundly. I am sure it will all be great after the renovations are done. All of the front desk and housekeeping staff were wonderful both times I stayed here, especially Kenny.
It was a nonsmoking room that smelled like smoke. The weather seal around the door did not stop light from entering. Blanket was ugly and out of style. Did not like being asked to pay for WiFi. No toothbrush. No rewards program. Bad area -- receptionist said she doesn't walk around alone at night on property . LIKES: vinyl plank floor, no carpet, can park by room entry door, relative to other Charleston hotels this was inexpensive, pet friendly. Receptionist is nice. It was as clean as something that old and dated could be.
The hotel was fairly quiet except for the dog barking in the room next to me for at least an hour straight. I heard a couple of doors slam at 5 am but that's expected at a hotel. The water pressure was terrible but that's also expected. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. The staff was helpful in all aspects. I would recommend this place for people on a budget.
The check-in was easy and the desk clerk was very friendly. The room was very Spartan but probably because of the cost. There was an issue of the floor not being clean and a bed that look like it might not have been changed. The location was good and it was easy to get to downtown Charleston. For the price the accommodations were okay.
Room was clean and functional. It looked updated enough and didn't smell weird or anything which is always a huge plus. The bed was very comfortable. The air worked great. I loved having our Dog stay with us and was the reason I chose this hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only changes or upgrades I'd recommend was no complimentary shampoo or lotions and the towels were thin and bleached so bad they felt like sand paper. But I'd still stay here again when we're in town since my daughter and son in law live here.
I was happy with the room size however there wasn't a refrigerator or a microwave in the room. For a room that costs $100 there should at least be a frig & a microwave! The room was very clean & smelt nice. The bathroom exhaust fan did not work. It sounded as if it was trying to come on but never did. The air conditioner worked great! The young lady who checked us in at the front office was very polite & very courteous! She was able to multi-task and keep a smile on her face the entire time! Great job!
So, I had some trouble with the floor being dirty, left a note so it would be cleaner as it was just not as clean as I would have likes. Feet still get blackened walking around. The shower is gross the floor of is needs a scrub or something this is the second motel 6 we have seen in the last week with this problem. The interior is dated even though it is updated. The problem is the building is showing it's age. The room didn't stink too bad. Seems hard to find one these days that doesn't stink in the no smoking rooms.
Our stay was very nice. About two hours before we arrived I received a call to confirm our room and ask if we needed anything. The room was very clean. The office staff was nice and helpful. My only real complaint would be the air conditioning. The room was hot when we arrived and the next day we ended up buying a small box fan to help cool the room.
Friday night I arrived around 10pm. I did a quick inspection of the bed and, bathroom. Everything seemed fine. The next day as I was getting ready, I wasted water on the floor. The water turned black, THE FLOOR WAS NOT PREVIOUSLY MOPPED!!! Later that night I returned, 12:50am to be exact. I attempted to enter my room and the keys would not work. I went back to the front desk to find the doors locked and the staff gone!! No sign on where, or when they would return. After waiting 40 min two staff members finally come back, and able to rest my keys. I enter the room and attempted to take a shower, only to find the towels and washcloths were removed, but not replaced! I tried to contact the front desk to have one of the desk clerks bring some out, but nobody answered the phones! I was unable to rest due to the loud noise and banging on the doors, of the other guest.
Stayed here two years ago and the rooms were old and very dingy. Was pleasantly surprised this year when I returned that the rooms were 100% better and updated! The showers still need some work and are very small. I'd stay here again as the value is great for Memorial Day Weekend.
Was in town on business and had to check in very early. They were able to accommodate me and save me a lot of hassle. Appreciate it very much. Room was very clean with ample bathroom space. Loved the walk-in shower. Will definitely stay again when I am in Charleston.
