Hotel has some positive and some negative reviews, as will mine. We booked this room as literally place to sleep a few hours while traveling so was not looking for extra amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful on the phone and upon arrival. The room smelled great, sheets were warm from just being changed, and could tell there was an attempt to have cleaned the space. After deciding to stay and unloading our items I found two bugs that you don’t want in your home. After addressing the problem with the front desk they offered to move our rooms but we decided to stay in the room with a discount since we were just sleeping and had already unloaded. Arriving back that evening the room smelled of smoke and I was told that Someone around us may be smoking in their room. Being after midnight it was too late to leave. We aired out the room the best we could and managed. Again, when checking out the staff was still very pleasant.
Personally, I wouldn’t be able to stay here again paying full price but then again you get what you pay for.
Plus side beds were super comfty and clean.
Well customer service was great no issues there and even liked the fact that front desk called to check to see how the room was to my liking. I had to give this an average rating because the heat in the room was insanely hot and it took forever for me to turn it down and cool it off. I was not happy with the fact that I had to pay for wifi in todays world, so I just didn't use it and the noise from those walking around upstairs and next door I could hear them very clearly. Bed was strangely hard to sleep on and in the front where my room is located there is very limited parking. I did have a good time here and there was no issues with the room itself just the normal things that most travelers would want to know about.
Great stay at Motel 6- I was a little worried when we pulled up to our room, and the window outside looked like someone tried to pry into the window at some prior time.
The stay ended up being good, no activity outside the room. I will come back when I visit in Kansas City again. The rooms were very clean, including mini fridge, and microwave.
Everything went well except a couple of things I brought to the attention of the staff, who resolved it quickly. The reason this is four stars instead of five is because of a problem outside of their control and I think is a corporate issue. The air conditioning system didn't work, and when I spoke to the employees about it, they explained it, but couldn't really do anything about it.
One of the worst places we have stayed. Noisy window, patrons above us sounded like they were coming through the ceiling. Absolutely no water pressure in the shower or the sink in the bathroom. Towels were like sandpaper. TV didn't work right. Loud partying going on outside our room..No parking close to our room and no lighting to make sure our vehicle was safe. Didn't feel comfortable when we got back from our event to find 3 police cars with lights flashing. Not a safe area.
I know that there's not a maintenance person right now, which makes things hard. But some kind of check of a room after people check out should be routine. The phone in our room didn't work, and we found out that the jack was completely missing and the cord had just been pushed into the wall. We were moved to a different and nicer room, but I was surprised that the issue had even occurred. In a "completely non-smoking" facility, too, it was quite obvious that someone had smoked in that room A LOT. Fortunately, the room we were moved to did not smell that way.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. I had issues with checking in. They charged more than the conformation price. After talking to the manager she was able to fix it. Just something to be aware of if you are staying.
The staff was friendly, and the room was small but tidy. Wood laminate flooring instead of carpet, which I liked. We were provided with an extra pillow and towels upon request. A/C worked really well and not particularly noisy.
However, the pool was padlocked, and we were not advised of this at check in. We were told upon going to the office and inquiring about the lock that it would be closed all weekend.
Being informed at arrival would have been helpful and saved us "changing clothes, hauling snacks, towels and goodies to the pool, etc"
**My warning, as always, is to be vigilant checking charges when using a credit card. The card I used to pay for my rooms, was hacked and used to make additional out of state purchases. The fraud department of my credit card called me to verify so it was stopped. Motel 6 was the only place I used the card.
At first I was very pleased with my experience. Then I got into my room and the ac was all the way maxed out and the room was hot. Had to leave the door open to get some cool air.
It is obvious that Motel 6 has done its best in updating its motels to stay afloat in the competitive market of motels/hotels. I for one appreciate knowing there is a chain of hotels still available at a reasonable rate without all of the unnecessary frills and higher nightly rates, but is also clean and up to date with the new renovations. Thank you
The front desk personnel were very pleasant and helpful. The room was without amenities (refrig, coffee maker, etc.) but nice and clean. The only drawback was small maintenance stuff like no hot water from the sink. The shower was nice and hot. The security bolt on the door is in need of repair, the screws can be pulled out by hand.
When checking in another guest came in to ask where the microwave was. Employee informed him there aren't any. He was understandably mad because he bought a microwavable meal they sell on site from the vending machine. I go to unpack but there is no stand for my suitcase. I discover no fridge or microwave despite the website advertising they provide them. Once I'm settled in my next discovery is the toilet doesn't work and neither does the shower. I called the front desk from the phone in the room and no one answered. I called ling distance from my cell and after 12 rings the clerk answered, apologized for the room appropriately and promptly reassigned me to a new room. I Then packed everything up and moved into Satan's sauna (My new room). The heat had been left on full blast at the highest setting. By this time it's 10:30 and I'm in my room alone with the door wide open trying to cool the place down and hoping I'm safe. The towels in this room were stained and mere rags. I am extremely disgusted and disappointed in this particular motel. Last week I stayed in a Motel 6 in Salina and it was wonderful and the reason I decided to stay in another one on my trip to KC.
We chose Motel 6 because they are pet friendly. We arrived in Kansas City for the night. The clerk that checked us in was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. My husband's key wouldn't work so he went back to the office. Before getting this key, my husband had to show ID, since I was the one to check in. We appreciated the measure of security. The room was very clean and our stay was Great. I will most definitely stay there again.
