I love Motel 6 here in Marina, ca. They are very accommodating and very pleasant people who will help you with whatever you need 24/7. The rates are excellent and the rooms are in very good condition. I would highly recommend a stay here!
Marina, California. I would have given an above average rating if the room had a refrigerator, hair dryer, facial tissue, toilet seat cover, and the toilet seat did not cover the entire toilet bowl. The location was very convenient for me. the room was fairly clean, though they missed the previous guest's towel hanging behind the door. I love that there is no carpet, and the "cover sheet" that looks like it is changed with the sheetsrather than a bedspread that is not changed per guest. The room I had was in a quiet location and luckily there was no one next door to me that evening.
From the lovely welcome to the clean rooms we were really impressed with the quality of this Motel 6 and will return. My only recommendation to encourage more owners to clean up after their dogs. The grounds were clean but not the surrounding areas. Perhaps threaten a fine - hard to impose - but, might make them think twice. Also interesting to note that the neighboring beach does NOT allow dogs. Thank you for our stay. Great value.
We were extremely happy with the quality of our room. Beautiful wooden floors everything was clean and fresh. It was a pleasure to stay at your Motel 6. Also I want to compliment the people at the front desk , the young lady who check us in and the other lady who I believe was the owner. They were extremely gracious and helpful and that just added to the pleasure of our visit. I would highly recommend your Motel 6 to anyone who asked ,as matter fact, I have already done so
Good and clean, comfortable bed, but the walls are thin enough to hear the person on the other side of the wall snoring, and the road noise from 1 does leak in, even on the side of the building away from the road. TV is mounted high enough on the wall to be a strain to watch, so I skipped it.
Sink water pressure was quite low; hard to get the razor clean while shaving. Acceptable option, but not an enjoyable one.
Overall reasonable, but not as restful as I hoped it would be.
The room was nicely updated and housekeeping service was great.
The issue I had was with reservations. I had a confirmed reservation with a set price. When I went to check in the hotel added an additional $32 to my already confirmed price and told me it was for "additional taxes". The manager pointed out that in the fine print it says that they can do this. So it is legal but not good customer service and certainly not something that will encourage me to return to Motel 6.
For many years my kids and I had stayed at this Motel 6 multiple times a year because it was always well kept, convenient, inexpensive, and the management was terrific. 3 years ago we stayed at this location and the room was filthy, the door lock was broken, we had no bedspreads on the beds, and there were ants running up the walls. We decided to start staying at the Howard Johnson's up the street since they were close and comparably priced.
For this trip I decided to try the Marina Motel 6 again just because it used to be so awesome. As I stated before, the room was great but it was the change to my quoted reservation price that spoiled the experience for me. If those "extra taxes" had been included in my reservation quote there wouldn't have been a problem. This just seems to be a dishonest way to do business.
I'm a nurse and cleanliness and good condition of property are of ultimate importance to me. The room we were in had been updated to wooden (?) flooring, beds were clean (I ALWAYS) check for bedbugs. The beds were comfortable. There were no frills, but we paid for a good night's sleep, comfortable clean room, and we got it. Oh, also, a very modern updated on the wall flat screen with huge selection of channels..I was VERY hesitant to stay at a Motel 6, but would DEFINITELY go back to this one.our room overlooked a BEAUTIFUL, relaxing garden.honestly, it couldn't have been nicer. Staff very welcoming, friendly and professional. We've paid 300 for a room on the beach that didn't compare ( it was filthy) with this oneHighly recommend.
My wife and I stayed at this same Motel 6 location exactly one year apart. Last year we stayed in the South-most building facing the interior courtyard/pool. We had a pleasant stay, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Given the positive experience and perceived value, we were not hesitant to book again this year.
This past weekend we stayed for one night in the East-most building, facing the parking lot/highway. The room appeared to have undergone the same "remodel" as the room we had stayed in the year prior, but that is where the similarities ended. First and foremost, the room had not been properly cleaned. There was hair on the floor, which was readily visible. There was also a used wash cloth hung over the shower curtain rod.
Additionally, the mattress and pillows were terribly uncomfortable. The pillows were were thin and of very poor quality. The mattress also felt to be quite old and worn. Getting comfortable was impossible and both my wife and myself were left tossing and turning all night. When we finally gave up on sleep, each of us had pain which could not be explained by anything other than the poor bed. My wife's pain was in her lower back, and mine was in my left shoulder.
Needless to say, because of the failure to meet our minimal expectations, I doubt we will stay at this Motel 6 again. Possibly, not at any Motel 6. At one time, you could at least count on the chain to be consistent. Now it seems, you can't even count on that at a single location. And to think, prior to checking in, we were actually telling friends what a great value the Marina Motel 6 was based on our experience a year prior. That definitely won't be happening again.
While the pricing was better at this location than just about anywhere else on the Monterey Peninsula, I would have gladly paid more to stay in a clean and comfortable room elsewhere. Next time, I will.
We have stayed at the Motel 6 in Marina before and probably will stay there again in the future. The rooms are always clean and affordable. The hotel is close enough to Monterey and Carmel to allow us to have a great time in Monterey without breaking the bank. The rooms are also spacious enough for our family to share without feeling cramped. We have never had any issues, although we did find a syringe in the parking lot near our car during this stay. This did make us a little nervous. However, I mentioned it to one of the staff members nearby and he immediately swept it up. While the hotel is not fancy, the rooms are clean and comfortable, making it an affordable option for the area.
I reserved my room, by telephone 9 months' ago for the long Memorial Day weekend. When I arrived, I only had a room for Friday night. The front desk clerk didn't apologize for the error, or seem to care. This hotel only had a room for the rest of the long weekend that had only 1 bed (we had 3 people) for almost $100 more than our reserved room. We stayed here the previous year and had a similar issue with reservations. The woman who works the from desk in the morning was the only helpful front desk person we encountered. The rooms are clean and the courtyard is nice.
love everything about the room, except the perfume smell added to the room by the staff. best wheelchair access we have seen yet at a motel 6. the room had larger space so didn't feel cramped! nice "picture window" so good sun access. nice view of tree line. minimal traffic past the window, pretty quiet. the only problem we had was that the room was so heavily perfumed when we came in that it almost knocked me down. next time we will bring an air cleaner. i have allergies so i still have sinus infection a week later as these chemicals are toxic. also, the phone did not work. we requested but could not get a "do not disturb" door hanger so we kept being disturbed, kinda funny to not provide door hangers. the staff were very very nice. will definately come back, with our air cleaner.
This location is really a great Motel 6. The hotel has a real "quaint" appearance. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Rooms are clean and a good size. Unfortunately, I would wish that there were microwaves and small refrigerators in those rooms rented for long term. Having a "communal" room for this purpose leaves open security and safety. Otherwise, I would recommend this hotel to anyone and it is pet friendly, if designated rooms are available. Good value for the price!!
Room was on the smaller side, but still was perfect for our stay! We had 2 adults, a 4 and 1 year old, and two dogs. We got the room with two queen beds. I love that the flooring was hard flooring not carpet (carpet in hotels is so gross no matter where you stay) and the hotel had everything we needed. The quick walk to the beach was very nice and convenient, except it isn't a dog friendly beach. For a hundred bucks, we really couldn't go wrong!
