Never have I stayed at a hotel this noisy. Who pays this much to get a migraine? Had to leave and sleep in my car down the street to get some quite and allow my migraine to havev a chance to dissipate.

Not ever staying here again and not likely to to stay at a Holiday Inn in the future.

Called the front desk twice about the noise. Seems it is acceptable to be louder than the tv INSIDE the room when you are over 30 feet away. But guess some customers are more valuable than others. So, I will not give my business to a company where my patronage is not valued.

Very nice place. Staff are courteous and friendly. Cost per night in December is reasonable. Monterey and the surrounding areas are quite spectacular.

The door latches were unusual and not intuitive (they look like part of the curtain system). Some rooms have a decent view of the nearby pond. Walking distance to the beach (don't know if it's a good beach, though - didn't know this until I left). Nice walking path nearby but not sure I'd go at night. Area is a little industrial. Staff was friendly. Room numbering was very confusing. The signs will say a range of numbers but not tell you that some sides are odd or even only. I didn't feel the rooms were out of date like others have complained, but the walkways had tons of spiderwebs on the railings, which made it feel dirtier than it probably was.

All what I expected room well clean and nice, a bit small for my liking. As of some reviews that were harshly negitive since I'm a member many years and really never had a problem that stands out. I think who left the comments need to get there head examine.. I'm very satisfied with my stay.

The setting of this hotel is nice and in a convenient spot. The hotel room was a little smaller then what you typically get at a HIE, but it was clean and comfortable. I guess this hotel is actually a motel given that the doors to rooms are accessed from the exterior instead of via a hallway. I wouldn't let that deter you though. The area seemed safe and parking was ample. My favorite part about HIE properties is the free breakfast, especially the cinnamon rolls. Anyway This property has a large breakfast seating area. I really enjoyed this property.

Located just off the freeway, the room was clean and pleasant. The bed was comfortable, clean sheets. Nice walking distance to the beach and a number of restaurants and bars. The noise from the streets was very noticeable at night. The continental breakfast was above average for a hotel chain.

Very disappointed. Exterior rooms. Lots of homeless hanging around with signs for money. Filthy lobby restroom with 1 faucet not working. Rooms do not smell very good. Bathroom smelled of urine. Shower did not drain well. (Stood in 5 inches of water while showering) Bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced. Did the not stay for the breakfastwas a little concerned to experience that. Called corporate to report and they did not seem at all concerned. I have stayed at other Holiday Inn Express properties and they were very well managed and very clean. Don't waste your money for 230.00 a night. It is a NEGATIVE star place!

I have stayed at several Holiday Inn Expresses, one time was a stay in Red Bluff,. Can. My mother and I had to stay a month because she became I'll. She died at the end of that month. On the road, my mother dying, everyday they treated us like Queens. They didn't understand the scope of things. But, they didn't need too. The latest Holiday Inn I stayed at is the one in Seaside, Can. Some really not so good reviews because the hotel isn't new. It was just as fantastic as the rest of the chain. Wonderful, clean, brand new beds, great, kind, thankful help, good food. A beautiful lake behind you, and an even more beautiful Ocean in front of you. Don't think twice about staying here. I got the best deal through the company, forget the hotel sites. I will NEVER stay in any other hotel chain. Haven't the last 20 years!! This property got a unfair reputation. Great place to stay! There's food in every price range nearby. The park and lake behind the hotel is beautiful! Swimming is warm in the outdoor pool.

The quality of the stay is fine, I enjoy its close locating to the beach and the beach view from the upper floors. I feel the rooms are too small but are good for the value of the amputation paid. Free breakfast in the morning is great, and room service is convenient.
