An overall good experience. The new East Tower is great - it almost feels like a hotel! Everyone, from the receptionists and registration to the nurses, assistants, and doctors, were incredibly kind and caring. I felt comfortable and at ease (more than I thought I would) from the moment I walked in until I left. Visiting a hospital isn't usually on the top of everyone's bucket list, but I would strongly recommend looking into Morton Plant in Clearwater if you need to have surgery or other medical procedures / treatments. The only negative I experienced was due to things running behind by about four hours. What should have been a reasonable six to seven hour visit, ended up taking a total of eleven hours from the time I was told to arrive until I was back in my car. The actual appointment was for around 10:30AM, but it didn't actually happen until around 2:30PM. It was probably an unexpected delay and not the average, but it is what it is. Otherwise, everything else was great and the actions of the staff helped to make up for it. I truly felt like I was in good hands.

My mother and friend always receive excellent care when they go. Caring staff always make sure they are taken care of. I hope they bring back the food service they originally had. It was like a 5 star restaurant.

It is sad how run down patient rooms are. Chipped paint. The floors were so dirty my shoes were sticking to the floor. I went to pick someone up who was discharged. It took over 40 minutes to get a wheel chair. Morton Plant is a disgrace. However there were plenty of nurses. They were all socializing at the desk. I'm glad I was not a patient. Sad very sad

GREAT hospital!! I'm a young adult and live in St. Petersburg, about 30 minutes from this hospital, and am still willing to drive to ONLY come to this hospital for their quality care. Every single person at this hospital has treated me like a family member, from my doctors, nurses, techs, to my radiologist, to even the housekeeping staff!! This hospital is a Baycare hospital - "We’re a not-for-profit, community owned health system dedicated to improving the health of our community" - where they treat their doctors, nurses, and staff with compassion and consideration, and that comes back and reflects on my patient experience. Never have had anything besides a pleasant experience.with a hospital visit!

Its the flagship Hospital for the local area and if u are staying at Clearwater beach this is likely where you would come. Its part if the Baycare Hospital system and I've watch it grow quite a bit over the years. The staff is friendly, parking is free, and its pretty easy to navigate your way around. I gotten to know multiple docs, clinicians, and staff members here over the years and they are quality, caring people who want the best for their patients.

Such a shame. Good doctors. Hospital clean. I was bullied by an aggressive long term patient. Moved in to my room. Just what a person coming from surgery needs. I complained to everyone..my mistake I should have called security. I left at the crack of dawn all because of this aggressive roommate. My care was great until they allowed this woman to bully me all night. It should have been handled

Went in via ER due to post-surgery complications. Very professional caring staff, nice facilities, great food. Only problem is lack of private rooms. Way better than Largo Medical Center.

Great hospital. I am giving 3 stars because I am irritated with the lack of cellular reception in the One Day surgery waiting room. You give your cellphone number to be contacted by the doctor and receive news regarding the status of your loved one in surgery, which is greatIF you could actually get the call!!! Today is my husband's second surgery in 6 months and both times the calls went directly to my voicemail and I had no idea I was called until after I left the waiting room and went to the cafeteria and cell reception actually worked. Not happy

I really think 7 hours in an ER pretty bad. The nurses and doctor assistants were wonderful but come on. Read to results and get us on our way. Unacceptable.

I worked at MPH for over 10 years into the 1990s. They had higher standards back then and were the hardest hospital to get a job in. Still not hard to do as a nurse since there will always be a shortage of us. Keep in mind nurses that have graduated in the past 15 years or so learned on powerpoint at home on a computer. They did not learn on actual human beings. They only had deal with an actual human for their practical exams. So if you ain't a computer you are not going to get exceptional care. Attractive nurses get snagged up by the doctors and go to work in their office. The less attractive ones make a career of nursing. They often become bitter and cynical. Ask yourself, did you get an infection after a procedure or stay in the hospital? Did your treat your nurses with respect or treat them like the guy cleaning the bathroom at McDonalds? If you did the latter put 2 and 2 together.
The best hospital is always changing. Whichever hospital had the worst state review most recently will be the best hospital for a while. The hospital that hasn't been inspected by the state in a long time will be the worst. A hospital simply cannot be profitable while following all the state and federal regulations.
If you go in covered in tattoos, have track marks, smell of ETOH or have any other signs of drug abuse all you will get in the ER is ibuprofen. This goes for all ERs. The more you ask and complain the less you will get.
There is no hippocratic oath for nurses. They are not required nor compensated enough to care one bit for you.
If you don't have insurance you will get lower quality care. I could never understand why people didn't get this. Why do you expect any level of care for no money? Go in McDonalds, say you are hungry but have no money. See what you get.
BTW the lowest paid employees are the ones that clean the operating rooms between surgeries. HIV AIDS patients are usually (but not always) scheduled last so the room can sit overnight reducing the probability of cross contamination.
This is an old hospital, started in 1918 and the operating rooms are downright creepy the first time you see them.
And for the Relator calling the hospital to ask about nearby housing? Thats like calling a auto mechanic for recommendations for fine dining.response / report this review -

I'm a realtor thinking I could call Morton Hospital to get info on nearby housing for an older couple ~ I may be selling their condo. After calling the direct number and was simply told of nearby cities which I'm quite aware of, I stumbled across these reviews. What a mix. Basically 5 stars and 1zs. After reading about a dozen experiences, and told by this senior couple's wife they want to be near this particular hospital for health reasons mainly regarding the husband, looks like I'll be sharing these reviews. Seems like it's easier finding a home than a tight run place of caring individuals. Peter

In may of 2015 I had scheduled heart surgery. As I was being prepped for surgery, this older lady lifts my gown and starts shaving my groin. She tells me she usually doesn't do this, she is just a receptionist, but they are too busy that day. So here I am being exposed by someone that isn't even a medical professional with the door to my room left wide open so everyone outside the room can see me. In recovery my cardiologist told them I can drink water again. I was so thirsty I felt sick. The nurse there told me she did not care, because my cardiologist did not have to clean up the mess if I got sick. They also had no regard for anyone's dignity, the person next to me was laying there with their gown lifted, so their nude body was in full view of most of the room, which was packed with at least a half dozen semi-conscious people. After 9 hours of being "under", they put me in a room with noisy room mates, that were allowed to have their company stay all night and leave the lights on. I begged and pleaded, that they make the guests go or for me to be moved. No help. Finally my wife called the head nurse, Molly, and complained. Molly came in with headphones and despite my protest, she ripped open a pair of headphones, plugged them in to my TV and just forced them on my head. I felt assaulted. Molly said this is because your wife keeps complaining. Finally at around 2 am, my personal nurse, Danielle, got me another room, because I started to get dressed to leave. Danielle was the only decent person. In fact she was great. The next morning, they bring me breakfast and give me expired milk. I took photo evidence of all of this with my phone.
I was supposed to go home, but ended up developing other complications. The doctor said he felt that it was as a result of the night I had, right after a surgery. I ended up being hospitalized for a couple more days, but I went to Mease Countryside because I feared for my health in that cramped old run down hospital were negligence seemed to be the standard.
I hope that this hospital gets their issues sorted out before they kill someone from their neglect and incompetence. I'm giving this hospital one star because I can't give less.
Refuse under any circumstances to be in this hospital. Find a different doctor if you have to.

Best hospital we have ever been in. Staff is professional and caring. Great communication between doctors,nurses, departments and patients. Food was great and what a selection in the cafeteria. We left AMA from St Pete General and it was the best decision we could of made. Everyone offered to help and seemed genuinely concerned that we got what we needed. Overall 5star from the valet parking to the medical care. We thank God we came we honestly think it saved my fiancé life.
