I gave birth to my son here a couple of weeks ago. My husband and I were beyond impressed with the quality of care both our baby and I received! The nurses and doctors were very friendly and helpful. Everyone seemed very experienced and knew exactly what they were doing, while providing great customer service as well. Metro is just in general a great hospital. Also, the food here is really good for hospital food!
ER is horrible. The doctors are extremely mean. A life threatening situation that could only be treated by ending a pregnancy was met with mockery and humiliation by the ER doctor. Dude with a beard and tattoos and looked to be like 12. A damn spoiled brat rude little boy was all he was. Who knew nothing about what was happening and did nothing but shame the entire time. Not to mention, profiled and made poor judgments initially. Could have ended in a death very quickly. Bad bad bad ER.
Had a heart stent placed a month ago. I had a follow up appointment but was late because I am new to the area. The receptionists in the heart and vascular unit set up a appointment that I would wait 3 hours for which I did. When the time came to see the physicians assistant I was told that they would have to reschedule appointment. I was angry no med, had waited around the hospital for three hours. I need another hospital.
Horrible! Was brought there not by choice. Was in a almost deadly car accident had me in and out in one day. I couldn't stand nor barley move when i was sent home. I was ordered all the wrong equipment that was not necessary to my needs and now am being charged for. A open toe boot during winter and a walker i couldn't even use. Later found the boot wasn't what i needed. I have huge scars with pieces of the dash still in my knees due to the nurses not cleaning them out. I was in and out the whole time while they are having me sign papers i couldn't even read or comprehend at the time. The doctor did a emergency surgery on a dislocated wrist without me understanding what was going on and ended up with a thick scar from my wrist to my elbow. My boyfriend was not even treated all but a hour and was sent home with nothing to wear but the wet sweater do to cutting all his clothes off. Just all around felt the care was bad and the staff need more training on something as simple as cleaninh wounds.
I just left there after an 11 day stay and a third of it in ICU, now grant it I'm not rating the local Holiday Inn. I feel that every nurse I came into contact with did her job up to standard's, but over half of them genuinely cared for you. Most of the Dr's impressed me coming in and just checking even if you were not their patient, I even had previous nures do the same just stop in say hi and see how your doing. If I saw a few of the DR'S or nurse's out side I would like to sit down and have a drink with them. I felt the hospital to be very thorough in fact they had my discharge papers in hand my heart fluttered once the caught it so that bought me another day a 3 different tests all good now and a good experience.
Daughter who is 20 + weeks pregnant fell down our stairs at home, called her on gyn office, told to go to ER. And here we sit in waiting room. Watching other people come in after us, go before us. Obviously can see prior here
Amateurs. Experience was borderline unacceptable. Receptionist was uninterested and downright rude. Two out of three bathrooms were unuseable. Nurses and doctors were not thurough and seemed confused. No one even knew whether or not we were discharged. DO NOT go here. Take the extra 10 minutes to go downtown. It may be the difference between life and death.
been her once for lab work. good experience. was just here today (for second time ever) after a work related thingy anyway LOVE IT i mean no one wants to have a health problem but what i really like is the respect for me & my rights as a patient here. i also really like st mary's but yeah both are good and it is almost always my problem at spectrum to holland hospital (regarding rights) is the absolute worst of all. i have for over 10 years been at metro. love julie as my np but yeah i trust her is a big reason why exactly like i felt after leaving here. glad i got my health issues diagnosed and got some more info as well. helped my peace of mind. i mean i hope it doesn't scar lol doc could not guarantee that good guy good nurses again here or st mary's for me cuz of the TRUST, respect for patient rights and well well being as well of course IT IS IMPORTANT y some don't understand that in health care idk it's important they also have your best interest at heart anyway hitting the sack got the day of from work legitly of course fingers crossed on scarring honest answer is always a good answer imo (from the doc)
ps some healthcare providers seem sorta to dictatorial/intrusive/demanding/etc etc to me well blah night night
i liked my doc nurses etc even the lady who took my info on the portal computer friendly as well respectful and trustworthy
one last thing i accidently stole their pain chart. they gave me a doc note for work & i accidently threw it in with that. not a thief will return here or to julie at metro caledonia godbless metro peeps
Moving through the ER was quick and easy. Rooms are pretty nice.
The gift shop is a little cramped and hard to move in. The cafeteria is pretty nice and they have a subway in their too. In the entry way there's also a small Starbucks stand as well.
Staff was generally pleasant and dealing with them was fine.
Customer service sucks here. My husband and I decided to go through metro for the birth of our first child. I haven't had the baby yet and will write another review after I give birth but I signed up for birthing classes online and was suppose to get contacted about dates, fees, ect but it's been over 3 months since then and nothing. I tried calling to get a tour of the birthing center and of course it's an automotive system so left my info and it said someone was suppose to get back with me within 3 days. Well, it's been over a month and still nothing. Called the hospital directly so I could actually speak to a real person well, they were busy and took my name and number to call me back. It's been two weeks and still no call! I told my obgyn about this and she said she has been getting a lot of complaints about this. Very frustrating. Also, the whole thing with having to pay upfront for the birth is very confusing to me. Do other hospitals do this? I would like to see a bill for my services received not what they think I may receive! I'm very confused by this. With the experience I have had so far I am not sure I would have my next child here. I have heard wonderful things about giving birth at metro so I am really disappointed by the service I have had so far.
Horrible experience in ER with my husband last night. We loved Metro Health before, but since it has merged with UM it is really bad. Staff is at lowest possible limit to keep place running. Man at ER reception desk was so uninterested he may as well have had feet on desk when people came in. We waited three hours (told multiple times there were 2 people ahead of us). My husband had a perforation from an earlier procedure and was in excruciating pain - when I asked for the third time how much longer it would be (and was told for third time there were "2 people ahead of us") I explained that husband's pain was increasing in intensity and was told "yeah, well everyone here is in pain". ZERO caring and compassion - husband at this point was outside vomiting on their lawn the pain was so excruciating!! We ended up leaving and going elsewhere where hubby was treated quickly with compassion. Will NEVER AGAIN choose Metro for ANY procedures, nor will we use doctors that are affiliated with this hospital. Hands down one of our worst experiences ever.
I have had lengthy stays at this hospital and many visits to the emergency room and have had nothing but wonderful experiences. The nurses take excellent care of me and the doctors are extremely knowledgeable. It has led me to use all of the specialists at Metro because I trust them so much. The emergency room is in a nice neighborhood where you feel safe and it's always clean and the wait is not usually too long. They are very thorough and caring. The hospital rooms are amazing as they are private and have plenty of space for family and friends and there's a 40 inch TV. It is the only hospital that I will ever stay at.
