Depending on season, Lani Kai can be packed with people on their private beach and in the 'open on the beach' bar. There is usually live entertainment and even beach game contests such as hulahooping, water balloon throwing to a partner to see which team can be the only team that didn't burst their balloon, karaoke, and more! Winner(s) win a drink from the bar! (The Rum Runners are fantastic, especially if you ask for a 'floater' which you pay for, but is worth trying!) Of course winner must be of age, if underage, an appropriate non-alcoholic drink is available. Always lots of fun whether you play or watch!! Food, snacks, wings, etc. can be ordered by waitstaff that walk around the beach area. Chairs with umbrellas are available for use for free if you're a guest or you've been ordering food and drinks. Makes for a fun day at the beach!
With all the fun, one can lose track of time, so make sure to use sunscreen.
Definitely a party hotel but not much going on when we were there since it was cold outside. Staff couldn't be nicer. Taco stand and Edelweiss hamburgers across the street is great for a quick bite. Restaurant upstairs at hotel has great breakfast with amazing views!
Amazing Resort., located right on the beach. Very colorful and fun. There is two bars with live music and restaurant at the top of the hotel with a stunning beach view (inside and outside seats). Hotel rooms have a balcony. Music is also played at the beach till 5pm with beach games. Friendly staff and lots of restaurants nearby within walking distance.
Seemed like a really great view but it was dark when we went. Food was solid. My wife's prime rib was delicious. The goat cheese stuffed chicken was a little dry but pretty good. I liked the ranch on the house salad and the dinner bread had a cream cheese pat baked inside which was interesting. Would dine there again
This is a mixed review. Room # 518
PROS--Great location. Within walking distance to many fun shops, restaurants and bars. Ocean view is spectacular. Servers on beach to take drink orders. umbrellas and chairs provided on beach. Nightlife is fun with live band and DJ. The Sundeck rooftop restaurant has excellent food, service and an amazing ocean view. Comfy beds. Hotel Starbucks will deliver right to your room. So all the amenities are excellent!
CONS-- This place is very dated. The rooms just feel old and are a little bit on the dirty side. Mismatched tile in rooms. Little cracks on the walls. The room had a congregation of flying bugs hanging out around ceiling. I booked this hotel for my cousins 30th birthday celebration who was coming from out of state and upon our arrival was a little embarrassed of the older room conditions.
The rooms were very large and all facing the beach, the hallway elevator was noisy especially late at night, but our door was right there I would ask to be away from the elevator.
3rd floor was about perfect for room privacy and noise reduction, and a palm tree was right in the middle of our view, which was very nice.
We ate at the restaurant/bar upstairs twice for breakfast, didn't much care for the swing table/chairs on the deck, and the place is old, so it wasn't the prettiest, but the food was good and reasonably priced.
We did not try the bar attached on the beach, or the finer restaurant upstairs because we really wanted to get out and see all we could.
If you are staying with children, note there are bars EVERYWHERE in this beach community and there will be noise and people cussing and some idiots, but the beach itself is a great environment for kids. Just don't complain about staying at a 'party' hotel if you don't want to partake!
We are 50 something and had a great time, we would go back here.
Pulling up to the facility I thought we had the wrong place! It was very well worn and more effort was put into the bldg size mural than the maintenance of the bldg. Staff was very nice. Upon arrival we were told they no longer had the type of room we booked so the upgraded us to a suite and gave us breakfast vouchers. Great, until we saw it. It was clean and roomy, but there were no electrical outlets on the walls nearest the bed in the bedroom. Not good for alarm clocks, CPAP machines, cell phones, etc. The only lights in the kitchen/living room were a small table lamp and the range good light. Unfortunately the weather a couple of days was windy and rainy. The windows let in so much air the blackout curtains were moving and the rain sounds like it was in the room. There was a 2" gap between the exterior door and the floor as well as the adjoining room door. Over all the best parts of our stay were the beach chairs you rent, the weather and leaving the Lani Kai. Definitely not worth the money!
If it's your first time to Fort Myers Beach be warned they charge for parking everywhere. Make sure you stay at a place within walking distance to everything. Here's the good about Lani Kai: The location! The beach! The views! Friendly service. That's enough that I might go back someday. The not so good: Very dated hotel. Not particularly clean. Weird smells here and there. Noisy neighbors. As long as you're there for the beach, the views, and the shops, bars and restaurants around town, it's a deal. If you're looking for an all inclusive "resort" feel then it's not so good.
I like that The place is right on the beach but it really doesn't feel like a resort, is open for the public so that leaves very little parking for the guest, when I arrived the first thing that you notice is the odor from the bar and there was a lot of drunk people walking around (Monday at around 6pm). the staff is great very friendly and helpful. The hotel is old, and even though they advertise this hotel to be kids friendly beware there's a very strong smell of smoke throughout. There's 2 restaurants on the roof top,the firts one with nice view of the ocean but again the smoke odor was to much, now the other restaurant is very nice great atmosphere and the food was tasty, friendly staff. In overall is a good party hotel for younger people not so much if you come with your family and none of the resort amenities or facilities.
Location location location, this hotel is on the softest sand beach I've been too in Florida. The water quality however is murky and greenish brownish. However many people seem to enjoy this beach, I for one enjoyed the sand. Also, it's a great place to visit low tide for seashells and tide pools! Hotel itself is okay, my room was decent and staff was friendly. Sun deck restaurant was amazing and those rocking tables are a new experience.
After some research, we decided to stay at Lani Kai for it's affordability and beautiful beaches. We were not disappointed. The hotel rooms were clean, well air-conditioned, and each has a beautiful beach view balcony. The hotel restaurants have amazing food, a fun happy hour, and the most wonderful view of the entire beach. There's live music every night and multiple bars at the hotel. We will definitely be returning to Lani Kai!
Might seem a bit strange for it location and may turn some people away but finish your journey to a Awesome dinner location with an even more Awesome view for dinner. The menu is a large one with Awesome food, awesome music, awesome service. We were pleasantly surprised enter this restaurant and after dinner check out the glider lounge
I have to say, I was a bit skeptical about my decision to stay at Lani Kai after reading some reviews that were not very favorable. But I am happy to say that my experience was top notch. From the moment we arrived and checked in at the front desk, we experienced nothing but smiling and helpful staff members. Bartenders and servers were awesome. Even the cleaning staff was friendly. Our room was neat and clean, extremely comfortable. Great entertainment at the beach bar, great food and beverages at the Glider Lounge. It was a fabulous experience. I recommend it highly. This will always be my choice when staying at Ft. Myers Beach.
Great dinner with the family at the rooftop restaurant. Awesome view with great service. Our waitress Marie was the best especially with our kids. Also the entertainment was on point as the singing duo performed wonderfully. They had a special guest join them who did a Whitney Houston song justice, we found out later she was the owners granddaughter. We were fortunate enough to meet him as he came over to our table and introduced himself, but not before complimenting our daughters. He wanted to get them dessert and said, "pick any two off the menu." We were so thankful. We will definitely be returning.
Lani Kai is a well known for its lively atmosphere, enjoyed by guests near and far. It's a must go to spot on Fort Myers Beach. Lani Kai has accommodations for vacation fun, both young, and old. Enjoy the beautiful sunshine while visiting the rooftop restaurant, or have your drinks served from the Bar to your sandy spot in the sun. There is usually a DJ, and or Live Bands, Dance Floor. Outside on the beach they have fun contests such as balloon toss, corn hole, and limbo. So stay, and play at Lani Kai. Most of all enjoy the beautiful sunset at the end of the day.
