I'm happy they re-opened. I just wish they cooked on the tables at lunch but the food was great!

It breaks my heart to write this review because Kyoto was where my husband and I had our first date and it has always been special to us, and we would always tell everyone that we thought it was the best sushi for the price by far. However, since re opening, it has NOT been the same. Fish was low quality, small portions, rolls were rolled improperly, and many items that we used to love were not the same and not as good. On top of the food being disappointing, the service was awful. We had to flag down our waitress for everything (and we're not even picky). So sad and disappointing. We might give it another try since it's nostalgic for us and hope they get their stuff together, but we've been a few times since they've reopened and had the same sad experience.

Was in the mood for Sushi and wasn't disappointed. Sat at the sushi bar and let Jesus know what I liked and let him chose the meal. I left satisfied. The fish was fresh, the food flavorful, and the conversation fantastic. He started me with the point break roll. It was flavorful with spice and sweet. Next I had assorted nagiri and it was great. I had never had freshwater eel and it was surprisingly good. Finally it ended with the little taste of heaven roll. Light and delicious way to end it. The sake was delicious and a great addition to the meal. Come enjoy this local restaurant.

Service was fine and sushi was good and fresh. But by far, some of the smallest portions we have ever received from a restaurant. With the prices they charge, not enough to justify, so in my personal recommendation, try another place.

Horrible experience, long review, but worth the read of you are considering going here Went there for a birthday dinner and left very disappointed and hungry. Made a reservation for a Teppanyaki Grill and told them yes it was for a birthday and her name and age. First we ordered appetizers ordered 3 things and only 2 orders were put in, was told "oh I didn't put it" okay, that was a mistake but hoped the dinner would be worth it. The cook for the grill was "learning" and wasn't great, but I guess you need to learn the tricks somehowanother disappointment though. The food wasn't seasoned and was bland. My daughter's chicken was dry and over cooked. The steak was okay. The fried rice was unflavored and needed both sauces to actually have flavor, another disappointment. Then the drinkswe had to ask for a refilled Literally get up and ask for a refill. Lastly my daughters birthday Nothing was sang or even a treat brought out for her. The cook knew it was her special day, he even acknowledge it, but none of the staff said a thing Check was given and nothing was still said about her special day, even though 2 tables behind us both had birthdays and were sang too and fawned over. Will NOT be back ever. This place if you look at the reviews seem fake since the "reviewer" only has one review. The food wasn't worth the high price. Just because you are in Scottsdale doesn't mean you should charge that price for bad food.

This place is awesome. Sushi is fresh and teppanyaki is delicious, entertaining and really fairly priced. Twin lobster tails, scallops, or the steak are all excellent. Good for groups, or families, or couples. Multiple courses come with your meal. Service has always been great, even when busy.

I'm sure it's great, but these fools are closed until mid January for unforeseen circumstances, due to renovations.

We were Very excited to try this new place! But upon arrival we were blindsided, The place was Closed!??!! And all the signs on the door said that it doesn't close until 9:30! "We had arrived at 8:30" and there was no sign on the door indicating why it was closed. Plus about 5 other cars stopped by briefly only to be disappointed to find it closed as well.
We drove all the way from west Phoenix for Nothing.

For the money, this place cannot be beat! I give the quality of the sushi an A- but the prices are really good, especially for Old Town. I usually have sashimi and it's always fresh. They don't usually have some of the more unique breeds. If you like rolls, they have a nice selection and not too much sauce drizzled on them like some places. Decor is nice, bar up front if you have to wait, a couple of hibachi tables in the back as well. Dinner time can get pretty crowded so be prepared for a wait if you go during that time.
