Oh goodness. Texan reviewed and approved! A cross between a local bbq with restaurant feel. The whiskey cider seasonal drink was more whiskey than cider, ooh that was good. The Jack's special has the best of the crown rib, the burnt ends, and pork ribs. Sorry, but we all got you beat on ribs, but that crown rib was something special, with perfect tenderness, smoked flavor, and good portion. The carrot cake was divine tho, try to save some room. You'll wish for a warm fire and a loved one to snuggle with.
This was the first Kansas City BBQ I had been to. I was used to Texas BBQ so there was the potential to be let down. Instead, I was blown away by the quality and flavor of the food. I had the burnt ends, pulled pork, beans and some type of corn casserole. Each of them were excellent. Nothing fell short.
The restaurant itself has a more formal dining experience than what I am used to, but that wasn't a problem. They have a bar with several TVs if you want a great meal and catch a game.
My family and I have always loved eating at Jack Stack Barbecue restaurants. This month I had the opportunity to use their catering service for our networking group, Thursday Therapy and it was simply amazing. Since our event was being held at a bridal gown shop, we were looking for an all white menu to prevent any spilling or damage to the dresses. You wouldn't normally think of white when you think of BBQ but the chefs at Jack Stack truly stepped up to create a custom white menu for us. It featured some wonderful new items including smokey, fried cauliflower that was TO DIE FOR!!! Simply put, the food and presentation were impeccable. The staff was warm and happy to be there. GREAT experience! Can't thank you guys enough!
Darius is one of the best servers I've seen in years. Very welcoming, gave us great recommendations (love the crown prime by the way!) and there was the perfect amount of attentiveness that made us feel like we weren't being rushed. Thanks to Darius I've had one of the best dining experiences ever. I've already my plans to bring my family when we come back to Kansas City. Thanks to the cooks for the amazing food and Darius for amazing service!!!! #TeamJackStack
I am a corporate flight attendant and ordered a carry out order for eight passengers the night before I needed it at 8:30 the next morning. Jack Stack doesn't open until 11 but they came in early and prepared it fresh. It was hot and ready at 8:30. They showed me exceptional service and all of the food was high quality and delicious. The brisket was especially tender and got lots of compliments from my passengers! Very impressed and grateful for such a wonderful experience.
Nice and kind of upscale inside. I sat at the bar because I was by myself at the time, but the barbecue was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and I think my only complaint was that it was busy and noisy when I was there, but for a popular place with good food, that's to be expected.
Neat upscale BBQ joint with the decor of a steakhouse. The mixed drinks were well crafted, flavorful, and strong. The burnt ends were tender and the short rib looked like it came from a dinosaur it was so huge! Highly recommend, it was worth the wait (it gets busy).
We took out two friends from out of town who wanted real Kansas City barbecue. What a disaster. Our server couldn't be bothered to check on us. I had to hunt her down three times to ask for drink refills, butter, and more barbecue sauce. When I asked for more barbecue sauce, she said I had to buy a bottle. The food might have been good if it hadn't been stone cold by the time she bothered to pick it up and bring it to us. That was 144 bucks down the drain. I would never suggest going there. Restaurants need to remember that they are only as good as their servers.
Nice decor, friendly service staff! Good local brews and the absolute BEST baked beans I've ever had. If you're ever lucky enough to find yourself in Kansas City, drop what you're doing and go to Jack Stack! If you don't know what a "burned end" is, you owe it to yourself to find out.
Baby back ribs were amazing. The cheesy corn thing tasted really good. The brownie and ice cream desert was delicious. Fries are good. Service is excellent.
If you live in Kansas City and you have yet to eat Jack Stack BBQ, you're doing yourself a disservice. I can't put into words how good the food is here so I'll just let their reputation as the best BBQ catering in the US speak to the flavor and quality of their product.
Their cocktails and bar service never disappoint, so if you're celebrating you can count on the bar staff to keep you well lubricated.
The only negative thing I can say about eating here is that there will almost always be a wait to be seated; however this is not something the restaurants have control over when everyone wants to come in and eat.
Highly recommend the spareribs and brisket. BBQ baked potato is also amazing value.
This place was great. The food was delicious the service was wonderful. The only thing that did not give 5 stars was the moody manager in the front who was very short with us but the hostess was very accommodating. When we travel to kansas city again we will definitely come back for seconds.
Jeffrey was amazing. We had a great time. His personality, competence, professionalism and kindness made the experience much more pleasant. Thank you Jeff. The found was great too
Best burnt ends in town. Combo plates give a good variety and sides. The beans are meaty, the Cole slaw is tasty. The ribs are good (but weren't very meaty). It's a nice place, service was fast and good.
